"The staff was friendly and polite. Our double room was small and clean. However, the bed (room 29) was the most uncomfortable we've ever slept in. It was very soft and we could feel the springs sticking into us. We ended trying to sleep on top of the duvet. We would have asked to be moved but had travelled all day to get to Newquay and were exhausted. When reporting this to Reception the next morning we were told that all the mattresses were new!"

Upon arrival the receptionist was rather brusque, not to say rude, and just barked “surnames” in our direction, which wasn’t very welcoming. The only reason this place isn't getting zero stars is the location, but even that comes with a massive "buyer beware" warning. The Mobility Nightmare: While the hotel is close to the beach, "close" means navigating a relentless series of steep stairs. This theme continues inside; there are stairs to get everywhere. "Very polite staff but the property is very tired and not well maintained with 1 room not having any soap and beds be stored in the open at the stairwell. The rooms both needed a deep hoover around the edges. Parking is also very expensive at £10 a night with no guarantee of keeping the spot if you leave. The pictures of the rooms are not representative of the rooms received "

"We loved The Nici hotel i Newquay! The staf was amazing, clean and nice room, and the location was perfect. The hotel had only been open for a month when er were there, so the pool was not ready yet. But we got a free massage and the kids could have a free surfinglesson if they had wanted to. It is close to everything in town, so we walked everywhere. We really liked this hotell, and would stay there again if we're coming back to Newquay!"

"The room was adequate for what i wanted and needed. Clean, tidy, hosts are lovely, didnt eat there so cant comment on the food, nor do I drink, so cant comment on the ale either, but the overall welcome and the room was lovely."

"Location location location. It is right in St Ives on the beach. Work out facilities were dated. Loud music playing with no consideration for guests working out. The restaurant is not a destination. Many other better options in the area. A watch out. If traveling with lots of luggage get ready for a strenuous pilgrimage from the train to the hotel up a winding path with stairs."

"Property okay- adequate for a short stay. In need of a bit of TLC. Room clean and spacious enough. Tea/coffee and small fridge. Swimming pool onsite which we used a lot due to heat! Also in need of TLC but large enough to cool off and enjoy. Fan only in room. No air conditioning. Staff friendly and helpful. Walkable but not a lot to see- we drove to beach etc. co-op and a couple of choices to eat. Restaurant onsite. Fairly quiet area though near a main lane/road. Plenty of car parking which...

"We enjoyed our harbour view room very much. There was always something going on around the harbour. it was quite a long way to the main Falmouth attractions so we ate mostly at the hotel . The food and drink at the hotel was quite pricey but perhaps on a par with other hotels in the area. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The staff were helpful . The surroundings were a bit drab and the outside space quite limited and close to the road. The hotel was in need of decoration in some areas....

"This hotel is always my go to when staying in the area. It's in a beautiful location, quiet and well placed to travel to the areas I need to go. The rooms are great no matter what ones you get. Facilities are fantastic, and as I understand it the golf courses superb, I certainly enjoy running around them early in the morning before the balls start flying."
