"Very run down. Poorly maintained structure. Evidence of water leaks in the bedroom and bathroom which had a strong smell of damp and long term cigarette smoke. One Bedroom window was nailed closed, no ventilation and although electric fans were provided, they only circulated warm air. Doors banging throughout the night disrupting sleep. Shower was a drip hose. Altogether a very bad experience which I would not recommend. This hotel is by far the most rundown place that we have ever stayed....

"I booked this hotel for a stay for my husband’s birthday, thinking the price would be worth the experience. I was wrong. Pre-arrival was promising from the reservations team wanting my partners name to personalise the stay and I also booked a room upgrade and some cupcakes for the room on arrival. "It was an interesting place to stay. It’s a listed property that is being renovated as allowed. We had a good sized bedroom but with noisy floors in the bathroom as well not too keen on electric showers but eventually got water at the right temp. "Conveniently located facing the ocean right in downtown Oban, so the whole town was within walking distance once we got settled. Comfortable room with parking right next door, and we enjoyed dinner at the pub right in the hotel, watching one of the FIFA matches. Slept well here and had a hearty continental breakfast the next morning. Would recommend!"

"This is a very good hotel , and the best value for money on the island. It is quite clearly an old hotel but very well looked after. The one down point for me would be the attention to detail with the cleaning of the rooms. The shower tray had hairs in it, the teaspoons and mugs were not clean. The carpet had quite a few "suspect" stains. Would definitely stay here again, but covered everything we needed to do on the island so probably wont be back for that reason. "We loved our stay. Clean and very large room with extra seating area and large bathroom. Very clean and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We walked the grounds and saw some seals swimming. We ordered an afternoon tea and had a little car trouble so we called to let them know we’d miss it and they packed up all the food for us to take with us the next day. So thoughtful. "The hotel and architectural style were excellent. The staff was as helpful as they could be. I liked the size of the room and the amenities in the room. I feel that saying there is parking onsite in the information on the website is misleading. There were only 6 parking spaces available to all the guests staying at the hotel and it is on a first come first served basis. Not cool. "Staff a bit tricky re booking tables to eat. Reception didn’t say a thing but I felt like we got into trouble trying to get dinner. Just a heads up to anyone - book a table. Food and venue was beautiful all the same."

Parking was a little bit of an issue with other guests not parking correctly, and the window blind, when used, fell off and hit me on the head, which was a shock at the time. "We absolutely loved our stay at the Glencoe house! We were in a suite away from the main house which had a great outdoor hot tub and patio. The room was very spacious and clean. The assorted dinner entrees and breakfast food was excellent and the amenities in the room were perfect. We also loved walking around the grounds and loch. I highly recommend a stay here!!!"
