  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

Not sure how this hotel has 10 stars for reviews online. Mold on the ceiling, tv didn’t work very well, sink counter was cracked. Bed and sheets were clean at least. Other guests were quite.

This Hotel is pretty decent, housekeeping came in every day and took trash and cleaned the bathroom which was awesome, every staff member we interacted with were friendly. Overall pretty good stay.

The person who checked me in at the front desk was very kind and helpful. The property itself is not the cleanest and smells of cigarettes almost everywhere, but I did not expect luxury for the price I paid. The area was fairly quiet.

Wonderful sleep

Based on other reviews, I took a chance. It turned out to be clean, comfy, safe, and I slept wonderfully. That's what mattered. It was not a high-end hotel, nor was I expecting one as I did not reserve one. The only trouble I had was trying to find it. It was in a separate wing of the Grand, which, based on reviews, I did not choose to stay at. All worked out just fine and, should I be in that area again, I would most likely stay there again.

Front desk guy was very welcoming and made sure I was comfortable. He checked me in early with no issues and showed me to my room. Great service. This is not a luxury hotel but for the price I would definitely stay here.

This is actually two properties. For me it was very convenient. The room, while a bit out of date, was very clean with sufficient towels. I was there to sleep and for that it was great. I would recommend that the owners/managers update a few rooms and call them upgrades or what have you and thake any revenue from them to do a room at a time - paint and other updates.

The room was spacious, housekeeping was done everyday. It was quiet enough for a professional and getaway stay. The sink was clogged and before maintenance could address the issue, the front desk offered to relocate me into a more convenient room. Maintenance and management came to make sure that the issue was taken care of. Though the issue was more deeper, both management and the maintenance personnel demonstrated good customer service. I also liked that the wifi works very well. I will recommend this property to anyone looking for an affordable place for a stay.

This place was cheap, so my expectations weren't very high. But when I got there, I was sure my vehicle would not make it through the night. I tried my best not to be judgemental, but every part of the property looked seedy. I was sure my vehicle would not make it through the night without being broken into. The person who checked me in was very nice and accommodating, so that was good. Apparently, there are full fledged families living there as regular guests, because I saw no less than 6 unrelated kids playing and running around the halls on my way to my room. The room was decent for what I paid, just a few small things not really worth mentioning. But the big thing worth mentioning was my bathroom had mold on the ceiling. As I was leaving the next day, I saw a roach crawling down the hallway wall and got propositioned by a drug addict, all within 2 minutes of each other. If you just need a place to lay your head for a few hours without spending a lot of money, then this place might be okay for you.
