"Beautiful grounds! A nice change from an average hotel stay! "

"Configuration of room strange...very difficult to get between nightstand and closet section to hang clothes. Only back half of closet accessible for hanging clothes. Access to mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker weird as have to slide barn-style door closing access to bathroom. Otherwise, all was nice and very quiet. "

"We always wanted to spend some time in Monterey, so we found this hotel, the Days Inn by Wyndham, 2 stories hotel, on a busy street and it was very affordable. Very close to Downtown Monterey and the Fisherman’s Warf, in about 6 minutes walk. So the hotel’s office is very cozy and staff is so friendly and welcoming. The hotel feels that the venue was renovated recently. There’s a coffee and various cold drinks vending machine for free of charge, access to the machine is free 8 am -10 pm, I think that is cool. So we asked if we could stay on the second floor, knowing that if a room is on the first floor possibility of someone keeping you all night from above, so we are on the second level room, however you can still hear people talking or furniture move or even drawers opening, the walls are not that sound proof. The floors in a room is hardwood floors, only one office chair, once again the hotel was recently renovated. The mattress is okay, little bit firmer, but it depends on a guest. Pillows don’t stay in their shape and very soft. The shower head is not retractable, the bathroom doesn’t have a sink, but the sink is located outside of the bathroom, but within the room. Water is loud and instant hot water is flowing, I think it’s good, however make sure if you have kids, supervise them. Nice a small closet and large mirror glass on the wall. Overall it is very great location to many amenities, big room, but soundproofing is not that much. "

"Great central location with a Starbucks across the street. Perfect for business trip and family trip as well. Very close to the aquarium. Wonderful staff. We forgot our laptop with movies on it on checkout and the front desk staff were extremely helpful and looking for it. When they couldn't find it in the room, they said that we were welcome to look for it. We eventually did find it. Really great service and very friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again in the future."

"The location and value you get relative to other hotels in immediate area you can't beat. The staff are friendly and helpful but limited. I'll elaborate soon. The property is older but really blends well with the old style architecture of the area. I was on the third floor and the elevator was out of service. The grounds looked well manicured but brickwork and wooden walkways could use power washing. Very dingy looking in contrast to the manicured landscape and white adobe looking walls. The room I had was a junior suite with a sofabed. The room appears to have been renovated. My biggest gripe is the toilet seat was either reused or abused by previous guests. Housekeeping in room was acceptable except for toilet again. Gray hard water stains were very visible below the water line. I lied about the biggest gripe. The biggest gripe was i had barely to no hot water for my overnight stay. I was told maintenance could not access the room to correct it until tomorrow as it was after hours. Fast foward to morning and still no hot water. Cold showers for all. Here is the limited part that i mentioned about the staff. When I notified the front desk about the water issue I was instructed to try leaving water on for 5 minutes and if not working she would have us moved to another room. I did 10 with very little heat. Staff apologized and informed me that her manager said they sold the last room. I checked and it was still available so you all could come to your own conclusions. Limit!"

"A cozy room with a balcony only a few blocks from downtown and Fishermans Wharf. Breakfast is quite decent. Some parking is covered. "

"The room was clean, excellent AC and Heat, great water pressure and showerhead, modern updated room, no complaints. "

"1) when booking, I selected "pay at property", as this was a working trip. I arrived to check in and use my work card, not the one that Expedia had on file. I found the hotel had charged my personal card which resulted in an overdraft fee and several hours of trying to sort out my account. They would not let me use the bank card I brought with me. When contacted about the best way to proceed with a refund or to charge a different card, I was told it was a third party processing problem, not theirs. When contacting Expedia I was told to contact the property. At a loss. 2) the odor in the room, specifically emanating from the drain, was incredibly bad. The entire room smelled like sewage. Slept with the windows and doors open to sleep comfortably. 3) as we were leaving in the morning I was waiting outside my room, since it smelled so bad inside, sitting on one of the flower bed ledges. The maid was cleaning the room above us and without looking below shook out a dirty mat covering me with debris, rocks, and dust. My team witnessed this happen. At the very least glance down at the walkway before shaking a dirty mat out over where guests may be. I’ve never left a negative review about a hotel before this one. So disappointing. "
