The Wayward Inn

Nestled in the heart of Chemainus, a charming seaside town, The Wayward Inn is a cozy, inviting escape filled with vintage treasures and lush plants. A breath of fresh air, this modern suite has a West Coast vibe.



The suite offers everything you need for a relaxing stay: 



• queen-sized bed with a Canadian-made mattress

• comfortable queen-sized fold-away bed

• luxurious soaker tub with a shower attachment (please note there is no standard shower)

• fully stocked kitchen includes a dining area and the covered outdoor patio in our garden is ideal for morning coffee, rain or shine. 

• energy efficient ductless heat pump (air conditioning & heater) which you can set to your desired temperature all year long. 

• we provide umbrellas, earplugs, toothbrushes and other extras — just in case!

• while The Wayward Inn does not have a washer or dryer for guests to use, iLoveLaundry offers full laundry services to our guests which includes no contact pick up & drop off, sort, stain treatment, wash & dry services. You can learn more about them here.

On rainy days, cuddle up on the couch with complimentary popcorn and watch CBC Gem or Crave on the smart TV. You’re also welcome to check out the collection of  DVDs, log into your own streaming services or surf the channels of Samsung TV Plus. 



We take pride in offering locally roasted Salt Spring Coffee beans, coffee grinder, and a choice of brewing methods including French press, pour-over, and drip coffee maker. Coffee not your thing? There’s also a selection of Westholme Teas from the Cowichan Valley, featuring both black and herbal blends.



We love all flora and fauna, and take great joy in wild spaces. The Wayward Inn is surrounded by beautiful shade and flower gardens, a vegetable garden, and a small orchard. It is a sanctuary for nature lovers. We practice permaculture, using compost from our chickens in the gardens, and incorporate native plants including sword ferns, cedar trees, and columbine. When in season, enjoy complimentary fresh produce from our garden — now that’s local!



Family-Friendly Stays at The Wayward Inn: We welcome families to enjoy a relaxing getaway at The Wayward Inn! As parents ourselves, we’ve designed the space with families in mind and are happy to provide:



• Understanding hosts that know kids will be kids and will make noise (not to worry, we won't hear you as we will be hearing our own kiddo!)



• Queen-sized fold-away bed for extra sleeping arrangements



• Pack & play travel crib (available upon request)



• High chair (available upon request)



• Umbrella stroller (available upon request)



• A cozy space perfect for game nights or family movie nights



• Kid’s dishes and toys



Our location, just a 1/2 block from the ocean, offers easy access to family-friendly beach outings, a spacious playground, picnic areas, a boat launch, and a treasure-filled shoreline. Whether you're strolling together or exploring, there's something for everyone. If you need anything to make your stay more comfortable, don’t hesitate to reach out — we’re always here to help make your family vacation unforgettable!

Are you traveling with your furry best friend? We welcome up to two dogs per reservation. We charge a one-time fee of $25 per reservation to help cover the extra cleaning it requires.

We welcome people from all walks of life, regardless of race, ethnicity, neurotype, sexual orientation, gender, religion and more - come as you are and stay a while! 



Accessibility:  In order to access the space, you must walk down 15 stairs with varying gradients (only a few steps have a handrail.) If navigating stairs (or using a deep soaker tub) poses challenges for you, our space may not be suitable for your needs. Inside the unit in order to access the toilet, you must step up one step into the bathroom. Pets live on property: You may see our dog Norman, our cat Itsy or see our chickens from time to time. They do not have access to your space, thought Itsy has been known to say hello sometimes on your patio (he does not access the interior to the b&b ever - please do not let him in! thank you.)

Potential for noise: We live above the unit so you will hear us living our lives above you. This includes hearing our young child, cat, and dog (who rarely barks). We aren’t tap dancing above you but you will hear the floorboards creak for example. If you're extremely noise sensitive - our b&b may not be a good choice for you. Good news: we can't hear you and we are nearby if you need anything.



Please Note: Our home is equipped with security cameras monitoring the exterior. No cameras are placed inside the unit or on the private patio, prioritizing your privacy. Feel free to ask us for more details.
