Beach Front Cottage, warmest waters north of the Carolinas

We still have some available weeks in June, the second half of September, and all of October to accept new bookings. Our preference is to have guests book week-long stays starting at 3:00pm on Sundays to the following Sunday with an 11:00am departure.

Roomy and comfortable, perfect for a family vacation! Golden sand beach out front*. Fabulous views of the Northumberland Strait, including Pictou Island, the PEI ferry crossing, and sometimes even PEI itself. Three bedrooms that comfortably sleep six. One full & one half bathroom. Large eat-in kitchen. Separate living/dining room with vaulted ceiling. Enclosed front porch and new front deck for morning coffee. Big back deck for afternoon/evening BBQ. 10 minute drive to Melmerby Beach (best public beach in Nova Scotia), 15 minute drive to New Glasgow. 30 minute drive to the PEI ferry located at Caribou NS. 2 hour drive to downtown Halifax. Choice of 4 local golf courses (two 18 and two 9 hole). Cross-fit gym available in New Glasgow as well as a yoga studio and the Pictou County Wellness Center. Great local roads for cycling, and trails for hiking/biking. Attractions include the Museum of Industry in New Glasgow, and the deCoste Performing Arts Center in Pictou. Day trips include the town of Antigonish - you can could also continue east to access Cape Breton, the Cabot Trail, and Fortress Louisburg, or you could instead drive north around beautiful Cape George (the "little Cabot Trail") parts of which can actually be seen toward the east from the front deck of the Cottage itself!

* Depending on the severity of winter storms which can take away the beach sand (as in 2024), or bring it back again - we are right next to the ocean after all...

For your peace of mind: VRBO is the only third party website we use to rent the Cottage. ANY OTHER LISTING of the Cottage (aside from authorized sister companies of VRBO) is not authorized, and could be fraudulent.

Our fourth year here and it does not disappoint! Beach is beautiful and and easy access to day trips to PEI or Cape Breton is the weather is not cooperating. The location on a bluff overlooking the water was superb. The cottage was clean and well-equipped. The caretakers were friendly and helpful in any situation. Had another excellent stay at our favorite Blackpoint Cottage . Coming here is like coming home. The cottage is clean and spacious and welcoming. It is fully equipped and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Cathy and BJ the property managers are terrific and are there at a moments notice if you have any questions ... and dealing with the owner is seamless! Oceanfront cottage on a budget!

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage! It was a good home base for exploring and visiting family nearby. The kitchen was well equipped and beds were comfortable. It was lovely to be able to look out the many windows and see the ocean or catch sight of several deer in the mornings. The host was helpful with a phone call to check in (and communication beforehand to answer questions), and the caretakers Cathie & BJ went above and beyond - very hospitable and friendly. We arrived later than planned and had a bit of trouble finding it in the dark (Google put us at the wrong address!), but Cathie came out and helped us out. The only suggestion I would add to the other feedback I've read, is you may want to bring some bottled/spring water to drink. The well water taste may not always be how it was for us, and certainly it was safe to drink, but we preferred a more familiar taste. Also, the listing may be made more accurate with updated photos of the beach. It has evolved significantly from the sandy beach in the photos, and while my kids still had a blast exploring the by climbing the rocks and finding tide pools, for a "classic" beach experience, we drove to nearby Melmerby Beach (worth the trip!). There is also a new larger deck on the ocean side of the cottage that is not pictured and is a lovely spot to sit in the morning with a coffee. Thank you for the great vacation accommodations!

We really enjoyed our stay. The weather was hot & sunny every day so the kids were able to enjoy the ocean and sandy beach during the day, and have smores at the beach bonfire at night. The cottage is very clean with lots of room . The covered sun porch out front was amazing !
