"Beautiful room the brilliant evening meal and breakfast"

"Lovely one night stay. Delicious meal in the 2010 brasserie"

"Aside from a member of staff called Kane who was exceptionally helpful, our experience for a birthday break was beyond disappointing. We initially stayed at the sister property The Swan in Tarporley where staff were outstanding but at The Lion we were greeted in what can only be described as very patronising, unwelcoming and brusque, by who we understand to be Beth. We were shown to a room that was classed as executive but had clearly had a major leak in the bathroom as paint was peeling away...

"Fabulous hospitality, stunning location. Thank you"

"A lovely place with all the amenities"

"There was an issue at check in regarding our family room whereby the expedia booking info hadn't pulled through correctly to the hotel. I would recommend emailing the hotel after booking to reconfirm everything. The family room was a decent size, although towels were stained and the free mini's were half used. The pool facilities were lovely. The pool was a little chilly, but jacuzzi very nice and warm."

"Lovely setting, with a variety of ways to stay."

"Beyond disappointing. We previously stayed initially for one night when travelling for business and the stay was so exemplary we booked for my birthday and for four nights - two at The Swan and two at The Lion in Malpas. The room itself was so much smaller than room 10 and not what we would consider an executive room in comparison. The...

"great ground floor rooms for people disabled or with dogs"

"Brand new modern bathrooms with powerful shower. Room a bit dated but they are working on it. Staff are lovely there is even a pool."

"The cat was a welcome bonus. The food was good."

"We stayed in family room with multiple beds. Room size good and still room for kids to play even with a cot added. Room showing some signs of age and not all beds comfortable Breakfast good and all staff friendly"

"Really liked this hotel but bit disappointing the bar staff were often missing and the sandwich I had for lunch at midday was still on the table until I moved it to the bar at 6.30pm! Evening staff were great though!"

"We stayed in this glorious hotel overnight as a family of three plus our dog. We had the most wonderfully warm welcome upon our arrival and this was further enhanced by the rustic charm that this lovely hotel exuded by way of its decor. We adore a vintage aesthetic so its appearance resonated with us immediately. Richard and his wife were fabulous hosts and the continental breakfast that they served to us this morning was very impressive .. warm croissants, toast, cereal and an array of fresh...

"Lovely hotel, quiet location. Very helpful staff"
