"Loved it. It's a small hotel beautifully turned out, and it's in an absolutely beautiful location. Big carpark just around the corner, no problem with parking at all. The food is excellent, good sized portions and very tasty. Beautifully surprised to find the chips that came with my burger were fully home made, haven't had chips like that since my Mam made them decades ago. Breakfast is good, again nicely made and tasty. The room (Hadrian) was really nice too. Solid furniture, comfortable bed, nice sized television, and the usual coffee and tea facilities. Wee bit worn in a few places, but still overall in good condition. Bathroom is nicely designed, my only gripe is the tiny wash basin that's pretty much useless for most things. It's a minor gripe, though, wouldn't stop me going back. The location, tho. It's just perfect. High up above the surrounding landscape, long views in all directions, and a beautiful wee church right behind... Lovely for a stay at Halloween!"

"A good impression on arrival as you drive to the front door. There are a few appointed disability parking spaces but there is additional space that can be used providing it does not limit the thoroughfare. A large parking area is nearby but involves a 5 min walk back. Check-in was handled well for our group although dining that night as a group required meals to be pre-selected to help the catering staff. Whist complying with this requirement, the actual meal service was sporadic with some meals not as hot as they should have been. Rooms were well appointed with all the amenities including a fridge. The hotel has a few disability rooms available with a shower area & sliding en-suite door. These rooms must be requested during the booking service. Rooms have an aircon or heat system to warm the area and easily controlled with wall mounted thermostat. A room card is required to be inserted to activate room electricity to lights, sockets & heating. Beds were comfortable & duvets sufficient for a warm sleep. Rooms are of sufficient size to incorporate a small table and 2 chairs. Room cleaning undertaken each day if required and refreshments replenished - tea, coffee etc & 2 bottles of water. There are a few lounges where you can sit in comfort, have a drink which can be ordered at the bar. Eating is available in the bar area for lunches/meals seperately to the dining room. Pool, sauna etc is available & spa treatments can be pre-booked. Our 2nd 3 night stay at a good price."

"Lovely and comfortable one night stay with a delicious breakfast. One star deducted as one of our rooms had a leak from the toilet which resulted in a very wet floor around the sink area. We didn't eat dinner at the pub as we were following up on a recommendation for The Duke of Cumberland in the next village, but we did pop in for drinks afterwards and enjoyed a quiz the barmaid had organised. It was also nice to see some local youths playing darts and enjoying themselves in the pub - it's rare to see 'kids' out these days and they were very polite too. All in all a lovely area and I'd consider going back in warmer weather to do some of the local walks."

"We only had a one night stop over but the staff were very helpful and friendly, room was spotless, lovely setting , food was mostly great ( bacon for breakfast was a bit overdone but everything else was good) . Evening meal was very good. Would stay here again ."

"What a lovely find. Lovely room with some nice extras such as fresh fruit and cookies. Restaurant meal was excellent and staff friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very good with an excellent selection and cooked to order."
