Visit the Ambleside Roman Fort, the same distance away, or wander round the National Trust's beautiful Stagshaw Gardens, 1.5 miles from the cottage. Stroll less than 1 mile to see Stock Ghyll Force waterfall or lace up your hiking boots and climb the steep slopes of Wansfell Pike, 2 miles away. Head 4 miles to Grasmere to buy local gingerbread and visit Dove Cottage, the former home of poet William Wordsworth.

Your lovely bedrooms also come off the lounge. Awake to scenic fell views from the twin, which has an en-suite shower room. Enjoy long, lazy mornings in bed in front of the Smart TV in the king bedroom, which has the added luxury of an en-suite bathroom.
