"Very disappointed with our stay at The Grand. I’ve never left a negative review about a hotel before but I feel compelled to, particularly because the reply I gave directly to their own request for feedback has gone ignored.
I booked two rooms; one for my Mum on her own and one for myself and my 8 year old daughter. I stay in about 20 different hotels a year and am fortunate to stay in some beautiful places but The Grand fell short for 5 stars.
I would say this is no reflection on the team,...
"My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon and it was fantastic.
The staff were all lovely people and great to chat with.
There is a head of security cat named teddy and he was the sweetest soul. He snuggled up with us when we sat in the lounge area, having a drink at the end of the night.
Every space here is decorated so nicely and makes it so warm and welcoming.
Our room was also beautifully decorated with a cutest guest book that was very entertaining to read and put our own note...
"Location is the biggest plus. Breakfast is good but noise in our room was a little frustrating. Late night cleanup noise and early morning recycling pickup - perhaps louder than normal because we had to have the window open due to the temps and lack of a/c. The shower though was terrible. Water was slow to drain and we had to be very careful about water splashing and the handle of the sprayer was loose making that very challenging. I may look around more should we return to York."
"We hired the luxury pool villa and it was fantastic, even better only 10 steps to the lovely pub where they serve delicious meals. All in all an excellent stay"

The location is a gem, river views and everything within walking distance.
The house has everything you need, and having the extra bonus of parking in such a busy city took all the stress away.
