"Front desk staff was welcoming and extremely helpful. Breakfasts, and breakfast staff were very good. Housekeeping was also very good. Views from the hotel were beautiful and the location is excellent. Parking was relatively easy.
Hotel pool and surrounding area was very tired looking and needed umbrellas or some sort of shaded area and decor. Rooms were very dated and carpet was very worn. We booked three rooms and two of the couples commented that their beds were uncomfortable and needed to...
"The views from up at the Vila Gale Douro hotel of the surrounding hills and valley was beautiful. The pool was excellent and so nice to take in the view."
"We had an amazing stay here! Would abolsutely stay again. Everything was perfect about the room and the property and it was walking distance to town which was great!"
"Overall, the experience fell short of our expectations. Breakfast was limited, with very few fresh fruit options and not enough variety. There were flies around the breakfast area, and the eggs did not seem fresh, so we had to ask them to prepare an omelet for us.
The bathroom also needed more attention—the bathtub had visible product residue, and there was no shampoo or conditioner provided. For a hotel at this level, we expected better quality, cleanliness, and attention to detail."
"The place was just amazing. The views from all around the property is spectacular. The staff took such good care of us. We went for our 24th year wedding anniversary and we were given some Port wine and a bottle at the end of our stay. The people were all great. The included breakfast is so good. And the suppers were just as great. There is very little light pollution that at night we were able to see the milky way galaxy. We had a magical stay and thank you so much to the staff."
"Property, location and staff were great with amazing views of the lake and neighboring vineyards. Its biggest flaw is the bedroom - sagging mattress and lumpy pillows made for a very umcomfortable sleep. I didnt have a restful sleep. The carpet in the bedroom can be updated."
"The only part that let down our stay was the food which was very disappointing.
We had read the restaurant was the best in the area.
On our first night the food was not up to standard and certainly was not cooked fresh and was extremely salty.
The second night I ordered partridge served on mushroom risotto.
The partridge was old dry and tasted like is was preserved in salt. It was awful and I had to send it back after the first mouthful. It was extremely disappointing to say the least. On our...
"Breakfast is included but if you want to have diner there, it is better contact them ahead. Otherwise, alternatives could be quite far. Food is excellent. Wine too. I strongly recommend eating at the Quinta."
"The place was really quiet and the view was stunning. The breakfast was really good as well with most food being locally sourced.
The Panoramic Villa was nice, there was a bit of a misunderstanding at first when the host showed us the Villa but was resolved afterwards. Also the shower seemed to be stucked to really hot temperature but adding a little force to the other side of the fosset did fix it to more reasonable temperatures."
"Todo excelente de 💯 y su personal… Ana q nos recibió y TODOS los demás extraordinarios… te hacen sentir en casa y consentido… una mega experiencia 💯 x 💯… GRACIAS a todos"
"Antonio was the property manager while we were there for four nights. He organized a fabulous cheeseboard for us upon arrival set up an incredible personal wine tasting for us on the premise using their local wines. Antonio communicated Our meal preferences to the Chef and greeted us every morning with a smile and suggestions on where to go on the Douro Valley I highly recommend him as being the property manager full-time."
