"really well priced, great location in the sea front. bedding was super clean and very comfortable. the walls were quite dirty though and the light in the bathroom was permanently flickering. all in all, i really enjoyed my stay. the old school lift is a thing of beauty - don’t ever change it. i think a lick of paint in the room would make the world of difference"
"A beautiful old property with stunning grounds and views, friendly, helpful staff, and an old fashioned wood panelled interior. The public areas and dining area are lovely. I had a single room with comfy bed, plenty of tea/coffee & storage. England suite was well equipped. l was a little surprised at the marks on the paintwork around the bed for such a high quality hotel, but this didn't affect my stay"
"We booked one of the nicer rooms. It seemed like a renovation project had been started but not finished. Half the wooden floor had been sanded and in places patched, the rest was stained. Shower was a clunky 70’s spa tub which ran hot and cold without any changes to the lever. Cupboard with glass doors was missing glass in one of them. Exterior of the hotel looked run down. The view from the room was lovely, the bed was comfortable and clean. Shower was nice and warm. Plenty of tea/coffee provided. My meal in the bar was very nice and the staff were friendly and helpful.
It is a very old coaching inn, and needs a little tlc in places (e.g, the corridors/stairs could do with a lick of paint) but this is reflected in the price. The room was nicely decorated and well presented. I enjoyed my stay & will happily stay again in the future."
"Hotel is in good location. Close to rail station and verious bus stop, restaurants etc.
I arrived early and my room was ready so that was great 👍 and I was really happy about it.
The problem is that building is closed during the day and no one around to help if something goes wrong.
When I arrived to the hotel on my second night I find out that my bathroom light is not working. Manager has sent 2 staff members but they couldn't help so I didn't have light there at all.

"3 nights in late July. Hotel is a great place to stay to experience the Lake District, not far from Ambleside but remote enough to feel like you are really in nature.
Staff and breakfast were excellent.
Walk up to Stickle Tarn was a good test with a couple of scrambly bits but well worth it once you got there."

"Really good value hotel experience. I had a sea view from my room. I also really appreciated the continental breakfast inclusive of the price. I wasn't expecting it. Not all cheaper hotels are good, but this one is. Simple, great value and a lovely experience."
