Just 45 minutes from Hobart, Dunalley is a small town by the sea with a canal and swing bridge separating it from the Tasman Peninsula. Affected but also in a way spared from annihilation which could have befallen them in the disastrous fires that roared through the area in January 2013, Bangor Wine & Oyster Shed sits above the town, overlooking Bangor Vineyard, Blackman Bay, Marion Bay and Norfolk Bay where some of Australia's best oysters are grown. Now it is a stop on the way to or from Port Arthur or a retreat after work on Friday nights when it is open in summer until 9.00pm. "This was the best hotel we stayed at on our trip down under. It was so good that we were very close to changing our plan to spend another night. Everything was perfect, the room, the staff, the dining facilities. We loved the location (right next to the Tessellated Pavement) and hope to someday have the chance to come back.
