"The slate is a lovely hotel ,cosy and comfortable .the reception is welcoming and clean and there's a lovely log burner in the bar that gives the plase an atmospheric smell. Evening meal was really good and good value for the home cooked food we enjoyed . Breakfast was really good and just started the day perfectly . We recommend to anyone and we'd definitely stay again when visiting Wales ."

" Faded Victorian excellence trying to satisfy today's tourists and not quite managing it (building is over 190 years old). Our double room was more like a single room. Buffet breakfasts Ok, dinners no more than average. Car parking difficult!"

"Tatty and in poor condition, awful place. We checked into room 210 this weekend, the shower does not work, just the bath taps. Bathroom dated and very tatty. Bedroom the same, cracked paint, unsafe electrical switches, one mug for 2 people to share. A truly awful place. "

"We have stayed here many times. We love this hotel. Close to the pier and town. Lovely surroundings. Lobby clean and tidy, smart in appearance. Fantastic quiet room, located in the back of the hotel (as requested). Very peaceful and comfortable. The staff as always extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast fresh and tasty. I would of preferred a bit of fresh fruit for an option but overall very happy with it. My husband couldn't finish all the breakfast (which doesn't happen often :) )...

"A lovely place to stay. They have everything you need in the room for example a smart TV and the shower is really decent, very clean and modern overall 10/10 staff friendly and helpful too I highly recommend."

"The hotel is fairly basic, the rooms look a bit dated, there was a crack in my bath surround and some staining on the ceiling, but I believe the rooms are due for refurbishment shortly, so this is likely to improve. The parking is just over the road, and is free for as long as you're staying (you can come and go without registering again apparently). The hotel as a whole was clean and tidy. The food was good but a bit pricey in my opinion, but it is a touristy area, so base your expectations on...

"Excellent hotel in a great location. Our family room was HUGE and included one double bed and two single beds. Biscuits and bottled water were included which was a lovely touch. Ample free parking. Bathroom was lovely and modern was really powerful shower. Would definitely stay here again!"

"As I was using a crutch, getting in with luggage was difficult. Providing a ramp on half of the front steps would be a help. However, the lift inside was good and the bedroom accessible in spite of a step to the bathroom. The hotel manager was always around and extremely helpful. Does he ever go off duty!! My room card did not work on the front entrance when I came back after midnight. Luckily another person arrived and used their card. And my card still worked on my bedroom door - didn’t...
