"Middleham is a beautiful place to stay and to enjoy walking and a bit of wild swimming. The place oozes character. Richard III boasts age and character, so don’t stay here if you want modern. No breakfast included which we hadn’t checked, but there is a lovely tearoom but 2minutes walk away, racing stables close by so plenty of thoroughbreds trotting through the centre. I found the place delightful."

"Breakfast was minimal regarding choice. Staff friendly. Room was very worn but had everything we needed. Sachet tea, coffee and hot chocolate drinks and biscuits weren't replenished on 2nd day of our stay, but I'm sure if we asked for them we could have gotten some more."

"Large bedroom and recently modernised en-suite. All clean and tidy. Nice and warm (4 day stay in January). Breakfasts were excellent and the food available for the evening meals in the pub part of the hotel was also good. All of the staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The car park is big. Breakfast does not start until 7.30am. You order it from the menu the night before and it was always ready for 7.30 for me, but I was there on business it left me quite tight for getting to my meeting...
