Historic building directly across from the Yorkminster. In the heart of the action and easy walk from train station. Comfortable room with old inn feel to main floor pub and restaurant. Excellent outdoor patio restaurant (depending on weather).
Loved this place. The authentic feel of how it was back in the day was fantastic. The rooms had all you needed while keeping authenticity. It was amazingly quiet place to sleep. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Food and drinks were great! Definitely would stay here again!
Every time we go to York we stop at Guy Fawkes Inn, and we can’t see this stopping in the future. The staff are warm and courteous, the location perfect, the decor rich and luxuriant, the food sublime and the beer gardens delightful. Whether starting the day with a full English or ending the day with a drink and tucked up in a blanket by one of the beer garden heaters, this beautiful place has it all: charm, character, and a hearty recommendation from us for anyone planning on stopping.
And the award winning pies, we can’t forget about them…

Great pub and inn, and the food, decor and gardens were amazing. Only had issue with the plumbing and room temperature.
We purposely chose and booked a room that’s more modern and brighter, however, the hotel front desk claimed that the hotel central booking system messed up and ended up giving our booked room to another group. Although the front desk staff was courteous enough to show all other options, we were offered a room that feels smaller and is so dark interiorly and creepy without proper lightings.
Lovely old hotel just across from York Minster. I don’t think there is a straight wall or floor anywhere in the building which really adds to its charm. We ate both dinner and breakfast both of which were excellent.
The room was spotless and huge. The bed was comfy and we had a great view of the Minster, although there are currently building works taking place opposite the inn, but that can't be helped.
I would note that the room doesn't have a safe, which would've been nice and also the bathroom windows feel like people can see in. Not sure if they actually can but they are not majorly frosted.
We would definitely stay here again if/when we come back to York.

Room was clean, staff friendly, breakfast nice, location excellent, felt old and historical.
As expected the hotel was very quirky being themed solely on Guy Fawkes. Our bedroom and the dining room were excellent. Only problem in room was inconsistent hot water. It was too hot or cold! The speciality steak and ale pie was delicious!!
Great service fantastic food can't wait to stay again

Fantastic stay from start to finish. Great central location and super friendly staff. The room was beautifully decorated, fantastic breakfast to set you up for the day, restaurant food was amazing and the bar/beer garden were great. Despite it being a pub, it was great to be able to still come and go no matter the time which lent itself well to me as an early bird as it meant I could go for an early morning walk. Overall a great stay and I'll definitely be back.
Amazing staff and service, room was lovely and decoration was in keeping with the property. We lovely all the quirky charms of the building. Great central location. The food offering and breakfast was great quality.

It was a stay for my b'day and I'd always wanted to stay here, and it was cool staying in such an old building. The bed was very comfy. The four poster room I found to be very dark, but did add to the experience. The tap on the sink was very loose and there was a hole in the wall by the toilet and some brown spots on the toilet seat which wasn't great. For the price I would've expected better.
If you like accommodation with a bit of history and real character about it, this is the place for you
Of course the building is old and a bit rickety but that just adds to the charm.
The location is perfect, right beside the Cathedral and a five minute stroll to The Shambles and other attractions.
It's friendly, clean and the food is excellent.
I would definitely stay here again.
I could not have been more centrally located. It is an old place, so floors slope and doorways are low. But after a few weeks in these parts, I know to look. Dinner was lovely; the pie superb. And I was grateful they minded my luggage after checkout since my train departure was later in the day.

The room was stunning, clean as a whistle and beautiful. Absolutely great features and the view of the minster was the cherry on top.
