We booked a room for ourselves and our 17 year old daughter. There was no bed made up for her, no towels for her. No air con and to cool down the windows needed to remain open, making the room noisy from the street. Overall it looked like it needed an update on the inside. Very helpful, friendly staff and the location was very good.

Property was of a clean standard with staff being good, however the room had some issues, with being on ground floor, the bathroom could do with frosted window instead of plain glass you could see inside also no bath plug so no bath but shower was available. There was no toilet roll holder . Toilet rolls had to be put on cistern. Breakfast was good standard quality, parking was ok but can't understand why a charge was in place for paying guests...

Reception & restaurant was beautiful. Staff were lovely. Disappointed with the room, very small not the cleanest, not well maintained, broken shower screen which we reported straight away, no coffee /tea. Room was over £200. Just expected a little more for our money & room to be nicer for a Hilton, pictures deceiving. For this reason we wouldn’t stay again.

We arrived and they were having some work done on the outside, but being a Sunday night no one was working. We had an easy check in but was shocked at the £25 parking fee (only £5 at the Holiday inn) Staff were polite and helpful. We went to the room on the 3rd floor which was fairly dark but was clean and had an enormous bed, made with a quilt 2 pillows each. All the furniture was dark wood, there was a hairdryer, iron and board in the wardrobe. And a large TV. The bathroom had a bath that would have got us both in, it also had a heated towel rail. Big fluffy towels. We went out into York for a meal at the pub for dinner, York was beautiful, clean and had some lovely little shops. Breakfast in the morning was full English plus continental if needed. It was hot and lots of it. The staff were very friendly. We slept so well, the bed was very comfortable and the room had a fan in as it was warm. Check out was easy in the morning.

The staff and location were amazing. The AC unit in the room didn’t work, and trying to sleep during a heat wave was impossible. Fans were in the room for our use, but it barely helped. Not all the windows opened, so trying to get cool air in the room was challenging.

The location is excellent. The hotel is generally nice but if you look closely is a bit grubby in places -skirtings, behind the doors and daily room service. The shower was over a bath and it was very deep which made it difficult to get in and out. There was an aircon unit which was so noisy it couldn't be used. Breakfast was good and overall we had a good stay.

Can’t say enough great things about the experience. The staff at reception were welcoming, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Check in was easy. The breakfasts were outstanding—great selection, fresh, flavorful. Staff in the dining room were helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this hotel.

Highlights: helpful, friendly staff and lovely breakfast. Effective ac unit in room Low points: room (#55) was in desperate need of renovation. Only the ac unit in the bedroom worked .. the one in the lounge area (where our kids slept) didn't work. Gym was very small.
