"Love Wairakei Resort, always have. But not such a great experience over Kings Birthday Weekend. Booked a garden 'villa' I think it was called, like a semi-detached, with another adjoining unit attached. That the reservations crew booked us into a unit with a noisy family/chaotic kids on the other side of the wall when there were other units/'villas' available seems crazy. It was a long weekend, but by no means fully booked & not all with rowdy hyperactive kiddies. As the place wasn't full, it would have been better for everyone surely - over-stretched mum & family, & tired older couple needing a quiet night to break a long drive, if a bit more thought could have gone into the rooms allocated.
Otherwise, room itself, facilities, pools, bar, etc all good 👍"
