In Illinois, if you stay over 30 days, you are considered a permanent resident and are entitled to a refund on any taxes paid for that first month, then any nights after the 30 days, the taxes are waived. The hotel manager had agreed to reimburse my taxes after the 31 day point. Then, after spending thousands of dollars to stay there as long as we did, he had the audacity to act like he didn’t know what we agreed to and refused to refund my taxes. Once I filed for small claims court, they refunded my taxes to avoid going to court, because they knew they’d have to refund me, then pay the court fines. The man is a liar and these people are not to be trusted. Thank God for the legal system, because he would have NEVER refunded my money otherwise.
