"This was a very nice hotel with excellent facilities including free use of a brolley which came in very handy! Lovely spa and great breakfast. Rooms are on the small size so probably would upgrade next time to a larger room but otherwise couldn’t fault it at all. "

"A very disappointing experience. Whilst the staff were friendly, there is a strike in the hotel industry in Norway which we were not informed of prior to our arrival. Therefore, the hotel services are not as expected and over our seven nights a lot of additional expense was incurred. Breakfast was plentiful, Fika was basically left over breakfast pastries and coffee, and dinner is not provided despite being part of the booking and so far no compensation for this has been offered despite complaining to the hotel, and to the parent company Strawberry. We purchased food in additional to the hotel costs already paid which amounted to in excess of £500.00 over seven nights for two people. Additionally with the strike, rooms are not refreshed and during our seven nights, no room bins were emptied (even though there were food stuffs in them), no coffees, toilet rolls etc were re-filled, floors not swept, and linen / towels were not refreshed once. As other reviews have stated, rooms are small and there is very limited hanging space and no drawer space. Unfortunately the hotel did not live up to expectations or the values stated on the Strawberry website. We have been very disappointed at the considerable additional expense incurred with no compensation for the services paid for and not provided."

"Very fun staying in this old treasure between the lake and the train station. Very convenient on our trip back to Bergen, and the breakfast was terrific!"

"We were moved to Scandic Byeparken because of the hotel staff strike. Very cramped room. Reception staff unsmiling and not terribly helpful. Morning staff much better - friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is first-rate. the hotel is very well situated."

"Despite the some of the catering staff and cleaning staff being on strike in the whole of Norway we managed to have a fantastic breakfast every day and sometimes if we were around Fika in the afternoon. We didn’t get the rooms cleaned so we tidied up ourselves every day, loved the room. The view was fantastic. The bed was super comfy. We had plenty of towels. We were supposed to get dinner included due to the strike this wasn’t to be, this was a really big disappointment because the food is outstanding usually in these hotels and we hadn’t budgeted to have to go out every night to buy dinner so this was a major financial blow."

"A good size room, large in fact. Kettle and tea etc would have been good. Breakfast was pretty good, good service. Very handy for town centre, bus and light rail services to airport. It is getting on in age and the room a bit careworn but still ok."
