"Breakfast and dinner buffet had a lot of options, but honestly everything was a little off to me. The grilled meat was good. But even the ramen and curry which I enjoyed in Sapporo, didn’t taste that great."

"Definitely well worth the price to experience a traditional Japanese room with a private onsen. Staff was very helpful in regards to planning out shuttles back to Sapporo or wherever your next destination is for departure. The breakfast and dinner options were an amazing omakase experience. Literally in an onsen town where you can walk around in your robes from public onsen to public onsen. Limited late night options around town outside from a bar that serves a variety of beverages and 2 konbini...

"Breakfast and buffet dinner were amazing. Had a lot of options even for someone who doesn’t eat fish. The steak station was great. Gelato, ring cake and melon for desert. Breakfast had omelettes, berries, lots of breads and jams options."

We had an amazing stay at Ryotei Hanayura. The ambiance is just beautiful with Japanese cultural motif. Every piece of decor is exquisite. We had a traditional Japanese room facing the mountain with private onsen. The room is very spacious. The kaiseki breakfast and dinner were delicious. We stayed for 3 nights and our last night’s dinner was Crab kaiseki dinner, with different kinds of crab. Beautiful property, food was delicious, but need to understand preferences of foreign travelers better. Check-in was quite slow and Onsen should be open longer hours.

* Vale is very clean and nice property. Expensive but it is worth it.
* There is a good 7-8 min walk to the main convention center.
* The onchen is located near Vale so that is nice (and free).
* There is a pool in the convention center but if you are visiting Rusutsu for the pool, I would suggest you go elsewhere.
* Breakfast was included (at the convention center). Three different choices but at best, the restaurants for breakfast were average. Dining is somewhat limited. However,...
