"3 couples stayed after a day at the Races, we booked it for my brothers Birthday, and what a treat it was to stay at this very glamorous Hotel, Art Deco at it’s very best is here👍Starting a reception, a speedy check in, and up to our Rooms with a lovely view, they were spacious, spotlessly clean and included everything you needed. The Bar tender were polite and friendly and know their job well. Breakfast was a lavish feast, made even better by the bubbly Barbara, who tended us well with a smile and friendly banter. She was a breath of fresh air! Thank you for our super stay at your fabulous hotel. Alan &Jan, Dave & Mo and the Birthday BoyJohn & Di . "The staff, especially Reception and a young blonde-haired lady who had only been there about 3 weeks were exceptional. Having the bar & the restaurant on the top floor is a bit odd, but it is comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very poor as was the quality of the wine. The gentleman acting as Maitre was brusque, untidy and unwelcoming. We booked our table for 7 and were prompt. But he wanted us to have courses in rapid succession. When we asked for a pause his response was that it was already cooked so we needed to have it then. We were invited to look at the pudding menu at 8.15 and asked if we could please have a little break, bearing in mind that dining didn’t start until 7 pm. He told us if we wanted dessert we would have to order as the kitchen closed at 8.30. We declined pudding. This is supposed to be a 4-star hotel - and everything about it is 4-star. However, I would not give the dining room one star. Sitting in reception in the afternoon waiting for my friend to arrive, who was also staying at the hotel, I heard a lot of people going out to dine and booking Uber. I now know why. There were very few people- perhaps 6-8 dining at the hotel on Thursday evening, which speaks for itself. I felt very unwelcome, rushed and uncomfortable. When meeting friends to dine - it’s lively to chat and linger over each course. We were given an hour and a half to eat all 3 courses. Most of which were inedible anyway. Such a pity. "The food fell short of the menu description. No rocket salad with the Bolognese and, a first for me, a freezing cold, solid, Tarte Tatin! Disappointed considering the efforts reception took to convince me to eat in-house. Didn't get to try the WiFi as the SSID on the key card was different to the one available in the hotel. "

"Does the job of an overnight stay perfectly. Sure the decor & furniture could do with some TLC but for the price it’s more than adequate. The bedding was clean & comfortable & the room had everything you’d need provided. The staff were good very helpful. I’d stayed here before & won’t have any problem staying here again."
