"Everything was above and beyond our expectations. We stayed in a room above the general store and it was very clean, quiet and up to date.
The village itself is incredible. A great journey through time in this historic town. While wandering along the empty streets I really felt like I was back in the early 1900's. There were rows of empty homes that are in various stages of disrepair. Some of the old buildings were updated, furnished from the period and made available to tour. All of the paths are nicely manicured and there is lighting along pathways and stairs that add a bit of magic to the area.
The water falls and mill were fantastic, the restaurant was superb, and the trolley and aerial tramway were running regularly throughout the day and felt very safe. The staff were all very helpful and kind. We did not realize that all of the access to the town was free with our stay at the hotel, including a very delicious breakfast at the mill. A huge plus.
We speak English, (very little French), but most of the staff speak some English. There was an English translated version of the presentation at the mill and most of the self guided signs along the village had English translations. (all the plays and reenactments were in French, but watching these performances was still very entertaining.)
Loved this place: it was enchanting!"
