"Manager very attentive upgraded rooms because of an issue with air conditioning. Small fridge would have been a bonus but everything we needed in all our rooms, extra water and condiments in hallway. Fresh fruit was a nice touch. Restaurant was 10/10. The only disheartening incident was being refused Scottish bank notes, it is legal tender, definitely not the welcome we expected. Scotland is still part of the United Kingdom."

"When we arrived just after 2pm it was like stepping onto the Marie Celeste. We finally found a few customers who told us that only member of staff doing front of house was getting ice cream for their daughter. When she appeared we asked about food but was told that the kitchen closed at 2 and that we would need to go out if we were hungry. Checking us in, she was very pleasant but hadn’t read my email sent a couple of days before to say we were bringing a dog which didn’t smack of efficiency. The stairs are steep and narrow and would not suit anyone with mobility issues or even pass current building regulations. The room was clean but cold and the heater, although apparently on, gave out no heat. The bedside lamp didn’t work although I was later told that it was just a loose connection; great if it gives you a shock! Nor did the light over the mirror in the bathroom. We ate in the bar in the evening when we were served by a very helpful young lady who seemed to be doing her very best in spite of having worked there for a week. The food was not great. When we went to our room the batteries in the remote were not working so we had to go downstairs and ask for new ones. For breakfast in the morning, again we had to go in search of staff. The lady was delightful and helpful and made a very good breakfast but she was having to juggle with housekeeping as well. I know staff are costly when not busy but might I suggest a minimum of 2 per shift to provide any kind of service."

"Nice cottage, excellent location, quick response from hosts when something was needed, however the property itself could be greatly improved e.g strong smell of oil in the garden and kitchen, and wear and tear of various items around the house including the travel cot and kitchen table."

"The only issue we had was there was no one to check us in, The contact numbers we had no one answered. We actually felt like we were trespassing. After driving around for an hour someone finally returned our call & messages and arranged to meet us. We had almost given up & were going to go home. Having said that we ended up having a really enjoyable stay :)"

"My family and I had a really lovely stay here. We were a group of three adults, three children and a dog and the cottage provided ample space for all of us during our two night stay. The cottage was nicely decorated and furniture was comfortable and good quality. Everything was clean and well maintained and my nephews particularly enjoyed the stocked cupboards of board games! We really appreciated the high chair, children's dinnerware and toys too for our 18 month old niece staying here. The kids also enjoyed the short stroll to McDonald's for breakfast and the dog was very happy with the field down the road! We visited Sherwood Forest, Sherwood Pines and Rufford Abbey all within a 10 minute drive. We all really enjoyed our stay here and would happily be back. We actually had to coax our dog out of the cottage when it was time to leave, he didn't want to go at all! Only minor problem was we were sent two different codes to the gates to get in. We didn't realise this at first and the first code we tried contained in an email from Vrbo was incorrect and didn't work causing a slight panic when we arrived. Luckily, we did eventually get enough signal to get online and find the correct code. "

"We were so pleased with the beautiful modern spacious apartment. We found it easy to relax there and enjoyed using the kitchen but we also went out and had such a nice meal at the Olive Tree.We were given a tour of the church which was entertaining!We went for two lovely walks at the RSPB Sherwood Forest and met some nice people there. Amazing. Many thanks to our host Laura. "

"Very nice cottage, clean, warm and comfortable. Well equipped, has Sky TV package, and a dishwasher ideal for a relaxing break. Unfortunately very close to the road which is noisy, however this makes an ideal location to travel from, and the pub is just across the road. Sherwood Forest and The Major Oak is within walking distance. Two car parking spaces outside the house. A lot to recommend this cottage."

Plus an amazing log burner! Easy access to Rufford Abbey and the Rose Cottage pub/restaurant is close by for meals. Best accommodation we have ever stayed in!"
