"Really enjoyed our stay at Mountain Heights Lodge. They were so helpful, as we had accidentally booked for the wrong night. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. We also appreciated the continental breakfast in the morning. Would absolutely stay here again."

"We stayed 2 nights in the ‘deluxe’ double room No 4 directly behind reception. The self check-in process was very easy to use. I suspect like everyone else we were there to do the Alpine Crossing. So in that context it suited us fine, only a few minutes drive to the pickup point. The room was en-suite, the shower was okay once it warmed up and it had a decent TV with a range of channels. The kitchen was well equipped. Overall very good value."

"The deluxe cabin was a pleasure to stay in. Parking right alongside. It had everything we needed (excl bathroom) and was spotlessly clean. The toilet block was a short walk opposite which almost made up for not having our own ensuite. My only downside was the lack of a second shower block near the cabin.. It was situated a good way from.the cabin."

"Everything was ok and Plateau Lodge is one of the best we have stayed for our hiking trips. The only little problem is just photo displayed when I booked. It shows a nice outdoor bath tub, so I expected the room I booked looks like this. However, that is indeed for another room type."

"We spent three nights at the Lodge. It is an excellent base for exploring Tongariro. Our room was very comfortable and the lodge had a laundry and drying room. Breakfasts were very good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay. Ps. make sure you meet Lucky, a very friendly feline who befriended us 😻"

"It looks like the place has been going thru renovations. The room has new kitchen and floor, may be carpet too. It is about 15-20 min. to the NP visitor center and many thrailheads and has restaurants and supermarket nearby. Since the room has full pane glass as wall and access door along the corridor ( much like patio door ) which allows full view of the mountains and also tenants walking on the corridor. For privacy, you need to close the curtain."

"We were only here for three nights but loved the time we had here. It was welcoming, spotless and our fridge was stocked everyday with breakfast foods, even bacon. The kitchen was really well stocked as was the rest of the house. For us, instead of being lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves at night, we were able to hear the river and drop off to sleep with that beautiful sound, it really was a luxury home away from home. "I stayed for 3 nights during local trail running race event. The place is really tidy and well maintained. I sensed the owners' passion for this place and Tongariro region. The kitchen is spacious, has large fridges and everything you need. You can bring your own food and cook without any hassles. The lounge is even better with pool table and table tennis table. There are two decent restaurants, a petrol station and 4-square supermarket nearby, so you can find all the essentials. "

"Mieliśmy bardzo udany pobyt w Tongariro River Retreat. Ian naprawdę bardzo się stara i jest wspaniałym gospodarzem - ogromnie dziękujemy za wszelką życzliwość i pomoc!!! Pokój był czysty i wystarczający na 2 dniowy pobyt, dodatkowo do dyspozycji Gości jest bardzo przestronna i w pełni wyposażona kuchnia a także bardzo przestronny salon.
