An incredible experience! Nestled in the woods with a fireplace at the core! Interesting food service: in bento boxes! So relaxing! I didn’t want to leave!
Truly underwhelming experience all around. We paid over $700 per night and were like 🤔 whaaaat? Our room was good enough I guess. Lower level, no view. All the rooms are attached to the main building so you don’t have any real solo space to come and go. Things are a little run down. The “chef inspired appetizer” we got our first night was a cold chicken Ceasar salad with dressing and croutons from a package.
No actual ocean views. We stayed at Heritage House last year and it’s 1,000 times better overall. Even with breakfast and the “wine hour” included, still not worth it. We won’t be back.
The breakfast and dinner provided with our stay was absolutely delicious.
The Inn Manager was extremely nice, professional, helpful for anything we needed.

Liked: Staff & service
This room was not worth $600. Especially not during ‘low’ season. The room was very out dated, not updated, etc. I haven’t seen a bathroom like that in a hotel in a very long time.
We paid a steep price to stay at the hotel. Our visit included dinner and Breakfast. We felt like the representation of the “three course” meal for dinner was completely misleading. The portion size was more like an “appetizer” portion. My wife and I ended up going out and getting a meal in downtown Mendocino afterward. It would have been better if it was represented as so. The breakfast was great and felt fairly represented.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Our stay was a complete nightmare. The so-called “Pine Room” should never be rented out at the premium rate we paid. From 4:30–5:00 am, the noise from the reception and kitchen staff was so overwhelming that sleep was absolutely impossible. Imagine paying for a night in a hotel and being kept awake as if you were trying to rest in the middle of a busy train station.
Because of this sleepless night, our entire next day was ruined — we were exhausted, drained, and unable to enjoy our trip. What’s worse is that I contacted the hotel directly, expecting at least an apology or an attempt to resolve the issue. Instead, I was completely ignored. That silence spoke louder than the noise that kept us awake.
Charging premium prices for a room where sleep is impossible is already unacceptable — but to dismiss and ignore guests’ concerns afterwards is even worse. This was not just a disappointing experience, it felt like a complete disregard for basic hospitality.
It is a beautiful property that exudes warmth. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Inn is smaller in size which adds to it’s uniqueness and sense of Intimacy. The breakfasts and wine hour meals were excellent.
Such lovely people run this property and the location is ideal with a beautiful view of the cove from the dining area and our room. Loved the breakfasts and the appetizers/dinner which was included in the price. Very reasonably priced too.
I enjoyed every part of my stay, anything you could need for the day or ask for is included in your stay. And the view looking to the ocean is amazing.
We had a lovely three night stay at Brewery Gulch. Our room had a bit of noise from the highway at times and the wooden blinds don't make the room as dark as we would like but overall it was very comfortable. The Inn has a perfect rustic elegance and it's wonderful to sit on the porch and watch the wonderful array of birds eating and drinking nearby. Breakfasts were delicious and tea, coffee drinks and cake are always available. We were in town for a wedding so we didn't take any of the walks but I would certainly return ( with eye covers). We understood from our server that a lot of people are regulars! We recommend the Inn, and the massage service of Leanne!
It is the best hotel we have ever stayed. The backyard sitting area with ocean view is stunning. I can just spend the entire day in the backyard. Staff were friendly and always trying to find ways to make our stay comfortable and special. Absolutely a fantastic hotel, not to mention the wine tasting and dinner. We will be back for sure.
