We stayed at The Cottage in The Wood for one night during a mini-tour of the UK. The hotel is unique, an amazing location and the room we had was generous and well appointed with lovely touches. We enjoyed the food very much - high quality menu, beautifully presented (including the excellent breakfast). It should be noted that whilst Expedia promotes the hotel as pet friendly - which it is from an accommodation point of view with a lovely blanket and other elements provided - unfortunately the main hotel building (restaurant, bar) is strictly 'no pets.' We were offered the chance to leave our dog in the room whilst eating, or to eat outdoors in a covered and heated patio space which we did (and it was very nice but thankfully the weather wasn't too cold). So you just need to decide if that is for you. The staff bent over backwards to look after us (and our dog) but rules are adhered to, which is fair enough if you know. But thanks to all the hotel staff for a lovely stay and we will return anytime without our dog, and in the summer with her!

We stayed here one night whilst on our hiking trip. The location of the property is literally on the trail, so it allows you to split the hike trail intro two days. However, there are no shops nearby, only a petrol station which closes at 8PM.
We booked a cosy room. The room itself was fine, clean, however we did notice quite a few spiders about in the room and bathroom.
The restaurant is where this property shines: the food was excellent, and it gets quite busy. We barely managed to get a table on the terrace, as otherwise it was fully booked. So if you plan to dine here as well, book in advance.

The room was well appointed and spacious and the views from the bar were wonderful.
Food was delicious, room was really cosy and comfortable. Such quiet surroundings with the most beautiful views. All the staff were so friendly. Wonderful
Such a beautiful place. Food really nice but bar maths are small and restaurant is Taster or Dinner menu so expect A la Carte cusine at a premium. Exceptional service in a beautiful setting. Would we go again. 100%.
I made this booking then had to ring to make an amendment - the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. When we arrived I was amazed by the view and thought he location of the hotel. The whole experience was first class - definitely worth the visit
The location was absolutely stunning! The photos online are fab but they honestly don't do the cottage justice! Myself and my husband came to stay for 1 night for a relaxing time away from our young children and my goodness we were relaxed! The location was clean, quiet and the perfect spot for us who like to walk. We walked to the beacon of Malvern Hills and navigating to the top from the cottage was easy! Such a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend to anyone.

Spectacular location but spread over 3 buildings so quite a trek to the dining room if you're old or infirm. Food and service good. Accommodation itself OK but nothing special e.g. no bath mats, not much heating, noise from room above simply from them walking around. Overall, overpriced I think.
Surprised to find the Cottage in the Wood far from a cottage but wasn’t disappointed. The dwellings spread over three buildings with the restaurant and small bar area situated with the main reception. Due to the time of year and the weather we were unable to take in what would have been spectacular views. The room was lovely a cosy, clean with comfortable decor. The highlight of our stay was our fantastic taster menu on our first night. Fantastic cuisine and luckily you don’t have to stay there to dine there! We will definitely return in the summer months to experience the views and the surrounding area in better weather.
Room was nice, great views. Dinner (in the bar) was tasty but tiny ( 1x cod fish cake, prawns, with one floret of cauliflower divided in 3 and a few bean sprouts) I ended up ordering cheese for dessert to fill up, but that was also minuscule. Pricey too given the quantity. Staff all very pleasant and trying hard. They’ve scraped the breakfast buffet for ’starters’, juices etc, so you are served, the salmon scrambled eggs was nice. A low point was two small pots of jam being put on the table when toast was delivered. Overall just felt a bit mean.
