You can learn about the history of Castel Gandolfo with a visit to Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo. While in this vibrant area, find time to visit its stunning cathedral.
After visiting Church of San Tommaso da Villanova, make a plan to see the other sights and activities in Castel Gandolfo. While you're in the area, stroll along the lakeside.

We needed to find a room for our final night of 2 weeks in Italy. We had a rental car so it had to be within an hour drive of FCO airport, have safe parking, yet offer something new. Looking at a relief map of Rome, we noticed an old volcano with a lake in it. Hello Lago Albano. On the south of the lake is Castel Gandolfo, and the Castel Vecchio Hotel. Expedia helped us book a "Room with a View" at an otherwise full hotel. The room overlooked the lake and the towns around it. It was exactly what...

This is my second stay, my first was 11 years ago. The hotel has deteriorated in the past decade with no obvious signs of refurbishment. I love the property. It is so beautiful! I haven't seen a bad room yet and even when we stayed in a separate building, we had a beautiful view. I enjoyed my stay but there were a few issues. The staff is spread too thin. The bartender is also the waitress (she ran in to make our drinks and was quickly gone to finish dinner service). The front desk/phones are...

What a great surprise! We were looking for a hotel in Rome for our stay in Italy and couldnāt find something we liked that would be in our budget. We came across this hotel and read in one of the reviews that it is half an hour by train from Rome. We decided to take it.
What a great choice! The hotel is just what we wanted; an authentic feel, a welcoming crew and beautiful view of Rome. The train ride (given no strike happening) is short and about 2 euros each way.
The town, Frascati, is a gem!...

Really modern hotel, great bar and restaurant. Large spacious rooms, tastefully furnished. Friendly helpful staff, easy commute to Rome (30 mins to Roma Termini).
We looked at staying in Rome, but the hotels there did not have any available parking, and I was driving a rental car. Also based on the pictures on websites the hotels in Rome seem to be old, poorly maintained and they charge premium dollars based on location only. If you are willing to add a half hour commute each way then this...

Aside from impeccable cleanliness and AC, the staff was extremely attentive and hospitable. Only stayed for one night there and the front desk staff knew me by name when I came and went, they helped handle my bags, generously handed out cold water and lemonade, and called me a taxi for the airport in the morning. Exceeded my expectations by far! 10 out of 10. When and if I come to Rome again I will be staying here! Christina and the man from the front desk were the greatest.

The property and location are exquisite. Our room was comfortable, all staff were kind and helpful, and we felt very welcomed. The breakfasts were delicious with an extensive spread of food and beverages. The pool was lovely. The villa is beautiful and we really enjoyed exploring it.

Excellent people. Very nice and accommodating. The only issue we had was getting in the front door on the morning we arrived. The hotel is part of an apartment building and we werenāt sure how to get in to a resident opened the door for us. Other than that, we couldnāt have asked for a better stay at a better location.

The room was amazing! Free water and coffee! The location was awesome! The market is literally one minute away and that place is amazing! The gentleman that was there at the counter was so helpful and kind! Sauce and asked if everything was OK! Loved this place!

They were really helpful and their services are excellent. Also, near of the hotel, like 5 or 10 minutes walking you will have 2 supermarkets, the beach is 1 hour distance walking and the mall is like 30 min.

I was pleasantly surprised by this property, after all it is a convent. The room was very clean though a bit spartan with a nice bathroom. It had all the modern conveniences (tv, etc...) and a comfortable bed. The staff was great and there was a lovely breakfast. The hotel is very safe. You need a key to get into the courtyard from the street and a key to get into the building at night. It is just outside the Aurelian Wall in the San Giovanni area. Its about a 20 min walk to the Baths of...
