Room was comfortable. It had the amenities you would expect to find tea,coffee & toiletries. Only 1 pillow each, no others in the room. I did t ask for any others so unsure if they were available or not. Room was outside, similar to motel setting in USA. As it was raining heavily the wooden stairs and platform was quite slippery( there were signs warning of this). We arrived earlier than check in time so knew we would have to wait. Even at 3pm they had to ask the housekeepers if the room was ready and it wasn’t quite so had to wait additionally.There was a nice bar area and we had a very nice lunch. Quite an extensive menu and reasonably priced. It did get busy both at lunch and dinner. There is a separate restaurant area where the breakfast is served also. Breakfast has to be pre ordered and you have to pick what you want at the time of ordering. I prefer to decide on the morning. I assume this is to cut down on waste? The lady serving breakfast was not overly welcoming and everything seemed too much trouble, not just for us but for other guests too. I have to say the younger staff serving in the bar/restaurant in the evening were very helpful and friendly.

An average hotel with nice clean rooms in a convenient location at the edge of the Cotswolds although it would be almost impossible to get there without a car. £100 a night with breakfast is I suppose average today but quite expensive for this "average" hotel. We have no real complaints as such but the heating in the rooms needs to be on when you arrive if the weather is cold and the tiny shower gel/shampoo bottles are silly. Fresh bread rather than standard supermarket sliced would be nice at breakfast. All staff are friendly and efficient.

A brilliant breakfast was provided with lots of options and a choice of times. It was also a nice relaxed & friendly service. They rooms were a good size, a little bit tired but keep very clean. Water, teas, coffee & biscuits were provided. We appreciated the friendliness & patience of all of the staff. We ate in the bar one evening and then curries were delicious! All in all a great place to stay that perfectly met our needs.

Good inn to stay at with excellent food!

Stayed one night while on a long walk. On arrival had to preorder breakfast and give a time. Room was in a block behind the inn and was fine but could do with a bit of a refresh. Tea making facilities (but needed more tea bags and milk), bathroom had a bath with shower over but only one tiny bottles of shower gel not quite enough! The beds were comfortable though, it was very quiet and we slept well. We had boooked for dinner but then they didn't have room in the restaurant so we ate in the bar which was fine. The menu is English food one side / Indian other side and we decided (having seen the table next to us have Indian and make great comments!) to have than and it was very good indeed. Decent Inches cider on draft and the servers were all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is served in the restaurant and you help yourself to any juice, cereal etc. before the cooked breakfast and tea is brought to you. The full English was excellent. Overall the food was probably better than the room but it served us well enough!

Well worth the stop

We enjoyed our stay at the "castle." The room was comfortable and clean. We had hoped to use the restaurant, but were too tired. Nevertheless we enjoyed a cooked to order breakfast, that was excellent.
