Perfect location to what we needed It is very close to interchange, which is a huge plus point First flight if steps to reception is a bit inconvenient, but we managed ok Shame no breakfast offered Very clean but in need of a bit of modernism

Pleasant stay, all good !

Exceptionally good location for travellers close to the Bus & Rail station. Initial flight of steps from entrance to reception which can be an issue for guests with mobility issues but lift from thereon. Rooms seem to have undergone refurbishment since a previous visit, pleased with my room.

It is very basic but does what it says on the tin. The heating was on & there was plenty of hot water in the showers. There is a pool table in the hotel & a bar next door to the hotel. It is right in the centre of the city & only two minutes walk from the railway station. It ticks most boxes for me.

The Gilson Hotel

The radiators were bouncing, the hot water was plentiful. The bed linen was clean and fresh. Decor was tired in the room and bathroom, but it was clean. The tea cups were chipped - but I had my own. It could get a little noisy in the corridors in the evenings but settled down by half nine ish. The receptionist, Johnathan, was friendly & helpful. Thank you

On check-in there was a very rude woman trying to attract the attention of the receptionist to complain about so called 'bed bug' which probably didn't exsist because she said they were in the room not on the bed. The receptionist was calm and continued to deal with us, actions that the rude woman accused of being ignored. We had no such experience. The bed was clean with fresh bedding, the floor, not carpetted but laminated was not crawling with anything. The facilities were perfect for our purposes though the shower curtain could have done with a wash the rest of the room was lovely. Spacious, comfortable a welcome place to rest our weary heads. The staff were friendly helpful and caring. We'd stay again. Thank you.

STAY AWAY!

This IS NOT a 3 star hotel. Iā€™m sorry, but this should not be offered to paying customers. This is used for housing people off the streets and in know way should be charged at anything over Ā£50 a night let alone the Ā£130 for each room we paid. We checked out the minute we went to outlet room.
