I recently stayed at The Chequers Inn while travelling with two colleagues, and it was a really enjoyable experience.
My room was absolutely lovely - modern, beautifully finished, and incredibly quiet. It was the perfect space to unwind at the end of the day. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and I slept really well. The room had everything you could need for a relaxing and comfortable stay, with thoughtful touches that made it feel welcoming rather than functional.
The inn itself is full of charm and character - wonderfully quaint without feeling dated. It has a warm, cosy, friendly atmosphere that makes you feel at home straight away. The food was another real highlight. The menu was extensive with plenty of choice, and the quality was excellent. Everything I had was delicious and clearly prepared with care, I genuinely have no complaints.
A fantastic stay all round, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Plus points: Good location for Cliveden, etc, very comfortable bed and modern room. pleasant traditional pub atmosphere in small bar area. Restaurant a little pricey for the place; meal ok, but cheeseboard not so good. Sea bass (small fillet but good) -price same as a leading Italian restaurant in Bloomsbury, where we got a whole sea bass.
Minus points: Breakfast not good at all, poor choice of cereals, no fruit at all, cheap orange juice. Full English ok (just) but pricey for what we got. Coffee was disgusting. Waiter, though friendly, said he wasn't able to get me an espresso, no offer to get me a fresh, stronger coffee either. Also 12.5% service charge not stated on menu - I would have left restaurant staff a small tip, but that amount for service for the whole stay was exorbitant.
