I understand that this is a small business, and locally owned, so I don't intend to be overly harsh. I did not expect hardly anything given how affordable my stay was...
At a budget motel, I don't expect breakfast, amenities, laundry, a nice TV, an ironing board, or anything like that... However, I would at least hope my room would be clean and safe...
As for cleanliness.
The carpets in my room were dingy and dirty outside of the main walkways, which were likely vacuumed. The window/ vent over the door was visibly covered in cobwebs. The microwave was dirty with foodstuffs/ stains. all furniture was leveled with ripped up cardboard shoved underneath the feet. The bathroom had brown residue all over the shower in the grout and on the corners. Table tops were indeed wiped down, and the sheets were clean and crisp, as were the towels.
Safety, however, was my chief concern... My door was so warped that one of the locks on my door could not be used. I was also not given a "Do Not Disturb" sign, and when I requested one, I was told that these are not even offered. This is concerning to me because I was traveling with several expensive items, and I had to simply trust that the staff wouldn't enter my room and go through my things. I know that a "Do Not Disturb sign isn't much of a deterrent, but it still requires someone to disregard that sign to enter my room and maliciously enter, as opposed to an honest entrance to clean the room, and seeing items, then taking them.
