GUEST ACCESS - The front door has a keyless entry. You will be given the code prior to your arrival.
THE SPACE Three separate themed bedrooms give a nod to the history of the cottage and will accommodate two people in each room. Bedroom 1 is the Fishermen Room because the cottage is on one of the best fishing lakes in the country. It includes a queen size bed, with smart TV, dresser for your clothes, closet for hanging items and phone charger port by each lamp, noise canceling machine and shelf to store your luggage. Bedroom 2 is the Vintage Room with memorabilia of the family motel (Lake Shore Motel) that was started in the 1940's on this property. It includes a queen size bed, smart TV, cell phone charger port on each lamp and wardrobe. Bedroom 3 is the Cherokee Room since the first owners of the property were the Cherokee Indians. It includes two twin beds, cell phone charger port on bedside table, a small desk and closet area. LIVING/DINING ROOM has a wood burning fireplace with a big screen Smart TV and a cedar desk if you need a work space. The farmhouse dining table accommodates eight.
KITCHEN - There is a full kitchen that will have everything you need to make great meals for family and friends. It includes a full sized fridge, microwave, dishwasher and gas stove. It is fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans, utensils, crock pot, George Foreman grill, toaster, mixer and all the essentials to prepare your meals. There are spices, salt/pepper, zip lock bags, etc. It also has a coffee/tea bar made from an upright piano. You can make a pot of coffee or use the K-cups and there is also an electric tea kettle. Assorted coffee, tea and hot chocolate provided. There is space for three to eat at the island in the kitchen.
OUTDOOR SPACE - There is a patio out front to catch those beautiful Lake Guntersville sunsets. The back deck has a large propane grill and griddle with work counter and mini fridge. The outdoor table seats 6 and there is plenty of comfy seating for relaxing. The fire pit has enough wood to get you started and we even provide the ingredients for s'mores! Several outdoor games are provided. Note the cottage is on 431 Hwy which is between the cottage and the lake. Keep an eye on the little kiddos.
HOUSE RULES - You must be 25 years old to rent the cottage. If you plan on having more that 6 guests it must be pre-approved. There is no smoking or vaping inside the cottage. In an effort to conserve energy please do not leave exterior doors open. Most importantly you are to relax and have fun!
HISTORY - The little cottage with a lot of history has undergone a year long complete remodel and update to ensure a comfortable stay for families and friends. This building was built in the late 1940's as a restaurant for the Lake Shore Motel owned by our grandparents. The building has had many popular restaurants in it and other businesses including a tackle shop.
This is a year round get away. Bring your boat (or rent one) and enjoy beautiful Guntersville Lake, known as Playground of the South. You can fish from the shore, boat or on many of the public piers around. Take leisurely strolls on the walking trails at the edge of the lake or hike the trails behind the cottage around the island. Only 1 mile away offers City Harbor with restaurants, Levi's bar, Home Re-Decor and a cigar bar. Downtown has Moody Brews Coffee Shop, restaurants, shops, Fants and Bakers on Main, The Rock House Eatery and Julia's Mexican Restaurant are two of my favorite restaurants. There are golf courses near by, and free concerts in the park spring and fall. Cathedral Caverns is just a short drive from the cottage. Guntersville Museum is very interesting . IF YOU NEED ADDITIONAL SPACE we offer 2 rentals on the island. The other is Lake Shore Cabin (510678).

We had an absolute blast. Mary was so kind and the amenities were top notch. We were so close to all the public fishing areas and my kids were very pleased with our stay. We are already planning to come back this summer!
This place was awesome. The history of this location in itself is amazing. The host 100%. Would definitely recommend. The kitchen was my favorite beautiful home
We really enjoyed our short stay and hope to return in the summer for a longer visit. The cottage is very homey and interesting. It has lots of history and very unique displays of its history throughout the cottage. Mary was an awesome hostess. The cottage was stocked with colas, coffee, tea, liquid creamer and fresh Amish friendship bread. It was very clean, warm and stocked with everything you could need to cook. The backyard was great for the kids to play soccer. We even saw deer in the backyard one night! Great place with all the amenities, character and a wonderful hostess!
The place was just as listed! The place was very clean and had everything you needed. Was very roomie. Even with the road noise we still enjoyed sitting outside and being a busy road we made it work getting the boat across to the ramp. Communication with the owners was fast and very pleasant. They were both very nice. The place is beautiful and all their family pictures of the place and property and lake made it extra special to stay!
This cabin was a great place to enjoy a visit to Grant and Guntersville! The Interior of the cabin is darling and also very comfortable! It also has a comfortable outdoor patio.
The hosts were very pleasant and ensured a comfortable stay.
My friends and I went to celebrate our 50th birthdays this year. This place had a great location, clean rooms and a nice gathering outback. However, one disadvantage was to excessive noise from traffic, as the house is located right next to the main road.
Host were without a doubt amazing. The location was perfect for all activities and ages. Easy access to anything and everything. Plenty of room and parking.by far the best experience possible.
Nice place across from the boat ramp, close to town
Great place, everything was easy. Would not recommend for little kids or pets as the front yard sits right on Hwy 431 and cars are doing 60mph+ out front.
Less than a mile to the waterfront shops/restaurants and downtown.
Stayed here 3 nights and loved the coziness of the place. Huge kitchen area and plenty of room to relax. Beds were comfortable and clean. Mary was awesome as a host and thought of everything and even made us some bread that was delicious. A bit of road noise if I am being honest but we were out and about most of the time and I sleep like a rock so not a huge problem. If you stay I encourage you to read about the history of the place which Mary has photos and readable info to check out. Very cool.
We chose the setting because it was centrally located to our various family members. It was a pleasant surprise! The history is fascinating, the cleanliness was superb. We spent minimal time in the house but enjoyed every moment there. Kitchen and bathroom supplies were plentiful. We were 4 cousins celebrating our uncle’s 90th birthday. We each decided we would meet there again for every birthday he is blessed to celebrate!
We had a great time! Boat docks are litterally across the street! Mary was Very accommodating & addressed any questions we had w/in a matter of minutes! Friendship Bread was delicious! We loved the history of the house & looking at the pictures on the wall from their past. Fridge was stocked w/ drinks, snacks & condiments, piano coffee bar stocked w/ coffee's & hot chocolate w/ marshmellows, laundry room had detergent & fabric sheets and fire pit stocked with plenty of wood! Very gracious host and will be booking with Mary again in the near future!! Would definitely recommend this property for anyone that is bringing their boat. Traffic sound was not a problem, we actually slept like a baby! Thank you Mary! We look forward to our next visit!!
My only con to the stay was the noise of the highway and it being so close. The trucks are extremely loud at night and the sound comes through the doors rather effortlessly. Other than that the view was great and the rooms were comfortable. Everything was clean and new and, although we didnt use it, the kitchen had every tool we would have needed had we decided to cook which we were pleased to see for possible future visits with more people. The memorabilia in the rooms and on the was was a nice touch to really feel and see the history of the building and area. We were pleased with the comfortable stay and the pleasant amenities and thank you for allowing us to visit.
My Mother and myself stayed for 2 nights over Thanksgiving at this VRBO. We found the cabin to be very comfortable with a lot of unique charm and aesthetically pleasing. The Host Mary Brewer had the Cabin stocked with lots of amenities like snacks, drinks, bath and kitchen items, cleaning supplies, clear directions, firewood for both the outdoor fire pit and the inside fireplace along with a “Welcome Amish Friendship Bread Loaf” gift. The backyard had a great sitting space with a working gas grill and blackstone griddle. The proximity of the cabin to Downtown Lake Guntersville shopping and the City Harbor was excellent! The history of the Cabin itself is very interesting and there was lots of information to read about that. I would highly suggest this location for anyone wanting to get away for a couple of days and be close to Downtown Lake Guntersville or for anyone interested in fishing and having a fishing cabin to stay at while on Lake Gunnersville. If there is one negative at all about this Cabin it is the noise from the road that runs in front of the Cabin. I stayed in the bedroom closest to the road and had no issues sleeping due to the trucks passing by. There is a noise canceling machine available in that bedroom and great blackout curtains. The other two bedrooms are far enough away from the road that there would be no problems with sound. I would definitely come back and I give this VRBO Cabin and it’s owner Mary a 5 out of 5 stars!-Shaun C.
This place was perfect for our family. Three generations. The place is impeccably clean and the kitchen is well appointed with everything you could ever need. Mary even throws in hot chocolate with marshmallows which our grandson had every day. He also ate the entire loaf of friendship bread Mary had baked for us (we did get one bite each). It is so delicious and was a welcomed gift. The coffee/tea "piano" bar is a piece of art that Mary and her sister created for the place. As a matter of fact, there were many hand made pieces of furniture and art there. As well as photos and memorabilia from the early days of the building as a cafe, then a bait shop. We were fascinated by the history. The beds are super comfortable with great linens. There are 2 toilet rooms. One with the only shower. The sink is outside and this arrangement worked great for our family. There is also a full size washer & dryer which is much appreciated. If there was one negative for us, it was the noise from the highway which is literally right outside the front door. Mary has added a sound machine in the bedroom closest to the front which we used and it worked great for us. We had no problem sleeping. But it is something to consider. The proximity to the highway also means it is super convenient to downtown and right across from the boat launch area. There is an awesome area out back with a fire pit, grill and even a small frig. for drinks. Such a perfect place to unwind and relax.
Our visit was great! We loved the house and the host is amazing. She was quick to respond to any messages sent. We will definitely be staying here again!!
This was the best time I had at the lake. The cabin was great. Mary was great. Everyone was great. Highly recommend for any getaway. Definitely will be back
Everything was as advertised, we loved the property and the area, being right across the street from a boat launch was very convenient. The only thing is the local highway is literally right outside the front door so there is road noise all day and night, we bought some ear plugs and had no issues sleeping. Mary's communication was great and very helpful, we hope to stay here again next time we are in the area.
