Waterloo Hotel Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"This was a perfect stay for exploring Snowdonia! The rooms were clean, beds comfortable (especially after a day of hiking), and the leisure centre was excellent for relaxing and recovery (again, after a day of hiking). The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The restaurant food was yummy. I had the chicken and burger over two nights. My partner who is vegetarian had the curry. I suppose the only thing to note is there is just one vegetarian main (not including the pizzas) on the menu, so if you’re vegetarian, just note that. Though my partner did really enjoy the veggie curry! It’s also very walkable (~15 min) to other restaurants and pubs in the town. Parking on site was a huge help to not have to worry about that. It does have EV parking, which we didn’t need but noted for next time if we rent an EV instead. We looked it up and there are good overnight charge rates, so it’s probably a great option - again we didn’t have an EV this time, but would take advantage if we did it again. Overall an excellent stay and highly recommend to anyone looking to explore Snowdonia or just have a relaxing time in a beautiful retreat."

"The only thing that was disappointing was that they did not have bar food like steak, bugars etc but i guess a very exclusive place would only provide upmarket food. Was informed in the morning that there is a pub five minutes walk where we could of injoyed this kind of food. Apart from that it was an excellent place to stay. The selection of alcoholic drinks were great. Staff were very friendly and attentive especially the young barman/waiter. Everyone were full of smiles and welcoming. It really is a beautiful place with lots of history"

"All in all a lovely hotel with clean room, although no phone to reach out to reception. Staff very helpful and informative. Spa good but having to pay £10 as a resident was a bit of a liberty. Biggest disappointments were the main restaurant being closed off and instead we had to use the inferior small bar area to which all tables had been reserved and the main menu which didn’t have much of a choice with a high price ! Overall though I would stay again but maybe eat out within the town of Llangollen"

"The castle was large and interesting. It was fun walking through the sprawling hallways. The rooms were modernized enough for comfort, yet kept their old charm. There were several peacocks and hens walking about the property outside, which was amusing. The staff was kind and personable. Plenty of free parking. Unfortunately, if you are intending on using the spa facilities, especially massage, facial etc., you need to book much in advance as those were unavailable on arrival."

"The views are excellent- Staff very welcoming and friendly. Rooms very comfortable but warning of some sloping ceilings! Amenities very good - good value for money. Breakfast very good. Good choice menu in the evening but disappointed that apple and blackberry pie not available for 4 nights of our stay! Dog friendly - which is great for dog owners but personally - I wasnt so happy re a couple with 2 big dogs being allowed into the dining room in the evening."

"The room was lovely and spacious, the staff were amazing, the service in the dining room was excellent. Parking is limited but we were lucky all 3 days. Loved the hotel. The shower needs some edging to catch the water from spreading over the floor (drainage worked fine) We were at the hotel for 3 nights and loved every minute. Thank you"
