Stayed here very last-minute to prepare for our re-location during a particularly hot spell. The provision of an excellent fan was very well received - thank you.

Fab little cottage, warm clean and very comfortable perfect for what we needed, Stayed 2 x nights with our dog, great location, and the cottage had everything we needed including a log burner which was great for a chilly November evening.

Our friendly host Andy was there to welcome us. The accommodation was lovely, good kitchen and bathroom, and a very comfortable bed. Ideal getaway for a couple, and also dog friendly. We were allowed use of the extensive garden, so plenty of room for our dog to run around and play. Parking was directly outside. Highly recommend The Old Gun Room.

A great little space. Cosy and quiet. My only, hopefully constructive, comment would be that a blind and a side reading light would make downstairs a bit cosier as it's so lovely otherwise.Bedroom fabulous...bed so comfortable Parking excellentThank you

Lovely quirky clean & tidy accommodation. Perfect for our short stay Ideal place as we had our dog with us. Only one tiny suggestion. A blind or curtain would make the place a little more cosy in the evening as it is quite a big window. Also keep the heat in a bit more. Otherwise it was great. J

Mid - week break in rural setting.

Really lovely location, peaceful, the owners are a lovely couple who really looked after our needs. The accommodation was very clean and to a very high quality. We would recommend staying here to anyone. We took our young cocker spaniel with us and it really was a pet friendly break. Thank you Andy and Mari.

This is an absolutely lovely property- an excellent location, with plenty of parking, a wonderfully-equipped kitchen, a ridiculously comfortable bed and a piping hot shower. The hosts are a delight - responsive but not intrusive, and pleasant, professional, and gracious. I had a really super stay, enjoying the sounds of blackbirds and the wind in the trees. The cottage is also a perfect place to work, if that's a concern.

Comfortable stay

This was a great spot for exploring local areas of interest and visiting friends just across the border. A day excursion by car to the spectacular Shropshire Hills completed my stay. The accommodation was perfect for myself and my travelling companion Lenny the greyhound. He had the run of the garden and the field beyond for morning zoomies. A glass of wine by the pond as the sun was setting on my last evening was a fitting end to our stay and onward journey to Cornwall. Thanks Andrew and family for a very pleasant stay.

Lovely cottage in rural Shropshire

The Gun Room was very nicely kitted out. The kitchen had everything we needed. Bedroom was very comfortable and bright. One thing I would say is that the sofa is very small and not very comfortable! There is however a TV in the bedroom for lounging. The outside space is lovely and we had some great weather to enjoy it. We had our dog with us so the garden was great but the road was very busy so for a longer walk we had to go in the car.

Prompt communication. Clean. Upstairs was reasonably comfortable. Unfortunately, very poor living conditions downstairs. Extremely uncomfortable small hard seat to sit on, with barely enough room for two. No cushions. Very cramped downstairs. Kitchen table was small and heavy. Hard dark floor. Needs large rug or carpet. No blind at window so no privacy downstairs. We found the stairs dangerous, desperately needs a runner in the middle at least. Also fingers pinched on banister half way up. Overall disappointing.

The owners were very welcoming. The property was very well appointed, particularly the bedroom and bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable. The grounds were lovely and include a small lake - pleasant spot to chill out with a drink. We had a perfect weekend break.

Peaceful hidden gem

If your looking for a quiet tucked away cottage this is the place for you .Beautiful inside and spotless clean. There are lovely gardens to walk around and a pond to sit and enjoy. There are several nice places to eat within a few minutes drive. There was no WiFi signal, but this didn’t inhibit our stay at all

Fantastic short break, relaxing home from home

We had a last minute 2 nights available to go away as lockdown eased and found the Old Gun Room to be available. Little did we know that the owners had literally only just listed the property and our request to stay the following day would mean that we would be their first visitors. Great communication from the start with Andy, and on arrival he showed us everything we needed. The old gun room has been recently completed and is a fantastic conversion. Top quality from top to bottom, oak staircase, lovely little kitchen with log burner, and all you need to cook during your stay. The bed was so comfortable we joked that we wanted to take it home with us, and the shower was fabulous. The gardens are beautiful, you can sit by the pond and watch the sun rise or set, and we had the joy of a game of croquet with the family (socially distanced) enjoying the beautiful weather. Absolutely wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay at the Old Gun Room. Thanks guys, it was a delight :)
