"Excellent stay at the White Hart Hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. The food was exceptional with lots of choice for breakfast. The dining menu in Antlers restaurant was also extensive and quality of food five star. Staff also very friendly with no stuffiness. We stayed in a deluxe room which was clean, spacious and well equipped with luxury Elemis toiletries. Decent shower and bath with space for toiletry bags as well. "I was a bit worried about staying here having read some 'iffy' reviews, but I needn't of. For being a 3 star hotel I thought it was great. Location was perfect, breakfast was good, lovely choice of food. Our room was good and overlooked the cathedral. The bed was very hard so we asked for a mattress topper which they put on for us. It didn't make difference and we still had 3 nights of not sleeping through the night and waking up in pain!! Could also have done with a hairdryer on the room, but...

"Hotel just trialling letting dogs stay. £30 a nights get per dog is too much. Also wasn’t allowed in restaurant or bar with dog which made getting a meal difficult when travelling alone."

"The staff were great, the rooms were lovely, and the only thing that let the place down was actually other guests who changed the controls on the toaster, to the degree that the rest of my breakfast went cold while I put my bread through 3 times, and then gave up - resulting in cold breakfast, stewed, cold tea, hard bread instead of toast - apparently it's an ongoing problem, which the staff perhaps need to monitor a bit more closely."

"We had a great time. Staff were great (mostly) and really helpful and friendly. Food in the restaurant was excellent, my wife and I loved every dish. The bar was well stocked with some great (and favourite) scotch so that was a bonus. We arrived Friday and left Sunday and on the Saturday we had a late lunch which was lovely, sat outside in the garden with the local church in view. "Room excellent, upgraded to executive room, but on 2nd floor, with no lift working. This was OK, but only because we had very light luggage. We really need a ground floor room if there's no lift now, as we are both pensioners sand beginning to experience mobility issues with stairs."

"Bed was really soft and the room was obviously a smoking room at some point as there was that stale old tobacco smell in the room that made getting to sleep difficult"
