The George as a building is full of character, but what really makes it an excellent stay is the quality of the staff. Such a friendly welcome, and superb service for breakfast and dinner meant that we felt very much at home.
I recommend the George to anyone staying in the area.
We enjoyed every part of our stay from the extremely friendly welcome , the bedroom was lovely, and a delicious breakfast in the morning

The room was clean and the bedding spotless alas no chairs to relax in and I was given a superior room but a booked a luxury room.
The lounge bar although ready on the evening was closed during the day for some carpentry works
The property was cold as was the room so sleep didn’t come easily. The windows condensated up and yes it was jolly cold
The manager was helpful and kind but nevertheless the stay wasn’t comfortable

Lovely helpful staff reception & serving food . Helped me with my suitcase . So cheerful . Parking a little tight but got good space & free parking nearby
Room fine just bathroom need updating soon

Town really interesting for a wander too
Historic hotel in a lovely market town. Very clean, reasonably priced, excellent breakfast. Dinner was tasty but perhaps the portion was a bit stingy. Miles is an excellent waiter and all round go-to person. Very personable.

If you want an authentic old English Hotel then this is for you. It was really old with oak beams everywhere but still clean. Pub seems to be the Hub of the village so also a good vibe. The village is really really quiet
Great pet friendly hotel located in central town, free parking in the back. Well equipped room, we appreciated the fan as it was quite warm. Very friendly staff, good food and plenty of breakfast options. Perfect for an overnight stay and close to exploring Sissinghurst.
We enjoyed our stay very much, the staff very friendly and helpful, food excellent, room spotlessly clean, would definitely return. Only issue for me with mobility issues was climbing into big bathtub with overhead shower and no grab handle! My fault should have enquired prior to booking! Cranbrook proved to be an excellent choice for visiting many places on my 'to do' list.

DISAPPOINTING - Yes the The George Hotel has history, we had room4 which is supposed to be one of the best rooms . Lighting was poor only one ceiling light worked and that was above the bed canopy. The flooring beneath the carpet was so uneven, I doubt the timbers supporting the floor were fit for purpose. Then there was the hazard 0f 2 steps into the ensuite, different size treads and different height risers, an accident waiting to happen.
The one redeeming feature was the staff, without exception they were wuelcoming, efficient and friendly. In particular a young man ( I believe his name was Miles or Milo) he was working pretty much at the run and seemed to be always on duty . He carried our bags up to o0⁰0ur room and down and out to our car when we left. If The George wants to keep him they need to look after him, I imagine there are many superior hotels in the area who would snap up such a hardworking, willing and charming young man. In conclusion the menu was good and varied both for breakfast and dinner, portions generous as well.

Nice break
Nice hotel , could do with a spruce up as a bit shabby but thoroughly clean so not a problem .
Older property, but well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff. On site parking a plus. Has both a restaurant and a pub ….. food was good. Comfortable bed but no A/C …. Not a problem in May….probably would be in summer. No elevator

Lovely staff, very good food ( especially breakfast). Situated at the heart of Cranbrook. If visited again would not have Room 1 - no outlook and next to the kitchen extraction unit.
Lovely room. Listed building and high ceilings so a little chilly at times. Bed very comfortable. Slept very well. Had dinner downstairs. Service excellent and enjoyed our meal. Breakfast was alsovery good.

Great getaway, shame about the bath..
Stayed in the Heather room, beautiful old features, very comfortable. Spa bath switch jammed 'on' so had to be controlled by pull cord by door and plug leaked, couldn't relax in it as jets set to full power and on all the time.
Food, bar and service were a great, very warm and friendly. Would recommend the venue.. But not that room.

Genuinely British. Good service, quiet and clean. Great food.
From the moment we walked into the reception, we were made to fill very welcome. All the staff are very friendly and make conversation with you and genuinely want to make sure you have a pleasant stay.
We had a large room and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was probably the best I've had at a hotel.
We will definitely be returning.
