The Daily Menu mentioned "Crispy Doreen's Black Pudding" on the Grazing Meat Board. We didn't find out who Crispy Doreen is, but her Black Pudding was great!
The steaks are pricey, but the rest of the menu seems reasonably priced, and the food quality was excellent.

"The room was really clean, a bit small but really nice. Parking was easy, within a few minutes walk from hotel. Kim was lovely, she made us feel really welcome. Its a shame that they dont do breakfast anymore but we took cereal and also went to wetherspoon which was just down the road.
We had a fabulous 3 days."

We had underfloor heating and found the room too hot through the night and bed a little to hard for me. If looking for hairdryer ours was positioned behind the curtain and unable to find it when I needed it."
"I didn’t know what to expect really, I’ve spent a lot of time in the Dales but have never stayed in a Shepherds Hut - wow!! I stayed in Herdwick and it was amazing! One of the quirkiest places I’ve stayed, it was warm (electric heater and underfloor heating make it toasty) and the bathroom was so warm with the heated towel rail. "My daughter and I were on a three day break in one of the cottages. It was extremely clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The farm was within easy reach of many attractions and set within a beautiful landscape. We would definitely consider a return visit"
"It’s okay hotel if you don’t expect welcoming from them. It was hot in our room even they provided a little fan and oscillating fans but it was hot day. The shower is too hot to handle and so is the tap."
"The guest house was located in a super position, close to the station and city. The walk to the city via the footpath alongside the river was lovely. The hot drinks tray and refrigerator in the room were a useful idea and well used. The bed was comfortable and we got a good nights sleep even though the station was close by.
Martyn was great and a good source of information. There were lots of great eating places nearby. We would definitely go back should we visit York again."
