"The hotel was good and clean with the rooms being of a good standard. One or two things could be better. The evacuation details on the back of the door was quite high up and small. This made it very difficult to read as I am only 5ft 6in tall. This became important as around 8.30pm there was a fire alarm. We found our way to the front of the hotel where most of the occupants were gathered. The was no role call to check if we all there. After about half an hour, we were told that it must be a faulty sensor as the area identified was not on fire. The alarm had to be manually reset every five minutes for the next half an hour until the manager arrived. This did not convince people and my wife was quite nervous for the rest of the evening."

"Fantastic staff on reception, easy to park and sort parking fee at the desk. Room clean and a good size for a family room. Very quiet given the location, which was great! Breakfast is served in the service station next door - the only option is full English so skip if you want something else. Comfortable beds and room not too hot. Would happily stay again."

"It was very exciting staying in a castle. We had the family room which was very quaintly laid out with a single bed in its own part of the small turret, through a stone arch. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was served in a box in our room with loads of choice, and fresh produce in a mini fridge which was lovely. The area is stunning. We took a lovely walk along the path leading directly from the castle, and enjoyed our breakfast overlooking the hill. It is an extremely old building of course and it must be very difficult to manage damp and mould in the rooms over winter. I have rated it slightly down on cleanliness but would recommend staying here for the whole experience!"

"The property was great! Clean, tidy and nicely decorated. Good location for sightseeing. Not much in the village but there’s a pub, a bakery, a Coop, a chippy and pizza so what more is needed. "

"Room was clean and functional. Bar area was small but ok as wasn’t too busy. Too many emails and texts for check in and door code wasn’t received so still had to wait at reception to get that. We were going to use the pool but at £12 per person it was not worth it - there should at least be a concession rate for hotel guests. A functional stay but couldn’t consider it a good one. "

"The rooms were spotless, Sue and her husband were very welcoming and we had an excellent cooked breakfast. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was both hot and had good pressure. The farm is in a very quiet spot and good view of starts when weather permitted. "
