"I chose this hotel because I assumed it would be old fashioned and full of character. So it turned out to be. It is very conveniently located. Inside is very comfortable if a little tired in places. The chairs are buttoned leather and the clientele at the time I stayed were in their golden years. Our room was very spacious but oddly shaped. It all added to the charm. Recommended."

"The whole experience from checking in with the very friendly staff to enjoying the bar late at night, lovely sleep at night, great breakfast in the morning and then swim in the pool was a joy for the whole family. Would definitely stay again. "

"Great location. Good reception. Great food. Room great apart from view out of window. Could not use pool etc as was not advised there was staff training so not open in the afternoon. Only knew staff training when I had got ready and gone down to a notice on the door to enter. Times of pools opening times did not match online to inside times, so never got to visit."

Our room was on the 2nd floor and fortunately there is a tiny ancient lift that is just big enough for 2 people and a suitcase, the room was 'cosy' but big enough, the ensuite had a good shower with somewhere for your shampoo etc if you didn't want to use theirs, it could have done with a hook nearby for your towel but that's my only minor complaint. "Although on arrival the rooms were clean. They allocated one room in the loft and my friend who is 4ft 10 ins banged her head twice as the ceiling was very low. They did allocate another room. Rooms were very small. We did not want them to change the sheets or bath towels but they did not do the bed properly. Everything else was acceptable. Staff in reception were helpful. Wish the food was slightly cheaper, very expensive breakfast. A full english breakfast with fruits. Juices, cereals,...
