"Excellent location right opposite the castle. Very comfortable and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Good food at the 18 restaurant with a 30 per cent discount for hotel guests. Would definitely return in the future."

No food served in evening despite having menu in room, seating area of bar in need of deep clean, arms of chairs, curtains and carpet stained and marked, could hardly see out of windows as so filthy and paintwork in need of clean/lick of paint. "Great location. Comfortable room. Generally, this hotel holds so much promise, but one cannot but notice the subtle traces of neglect and an encroachment of disrepair-from reception, to hallways, to the room and bathroom. In all, a fair stay, that could very easily be so much better with a little more attention to detail. The staff were very helpful."

"Some areas showed their age . Staff where courteous and kind . Views are wonderful but the terrace needs tidying up. Breakfast was like a feast! 25 to 30 years ago we used to come regularly for several holidays a year. It's an old building and needs a brush up. They've tried to maximise money making on the terrace not all of which is easy on the eye . However despite criticism I'm already planning a return trip ."

"Still the best place to stay in Poole. Shower was awesome, enough room to get a rugby union team in!!! Great location near the restaurants on the Quay and a ten minute walk from the train station. Deluxe Room was very spacious and had an iron bath in the corner!! However, mattress was too soft and the pillows too 'fluffy'. Just a personal note, but we needed hard mattresses and 'dull' pillows. "Never stay here in the summer! A lovely hotel with a great spa but sadly the staff were not interested. Our room (6) was boiling hot, far hotter than 2 other hotel rooms we have slept in over this May 26 heatwave. When we raised this at check in and explained that we would not be able to sleep in the room we were given a spare fan that simply moved the hot are around.
