"Very good view of the cathedral.
Carpets, fixtures and furnishings worn. Mattress was old, springs were gone and made for an uncomfortable and mostly sleepless night.
Grout in bathroom missing in areas, slow draining shower, shower head needs cleaning.
Staff working hard in a difficult situation."
"I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I booked 2 nights and I only stayed one. Firstly the staff had a little bit of an attitude whilst we were checking in which we didn’t mind anyways. But once we started making way to our room we started to sense urine smells on the stairs and hallways on the way to our room. On the floor of our room there was another room blasting music from the moment we got there until the next morning and kept on going non stop. The staff didn’t really seem to care...
"Very expensive for the type of hotel! We were disappointed no breakfast included in the price The toilet seat was peeling The taps had lost their labels ..disgusting ! In the night I walked by my bed to the the “step into the loo “ and nearly broke my toe scraped my my back on a badly placed wooden and brass door stop We will never visit this hotel again and would like a refund"
"The location is excellent - so close to the castle and cathedral. There are two very good real ale pubs just down the road and plenty of restaurants nearby.
We were lucky enough to get free parking the whole of the week.
The weather was hot, so air-conditioning would have been nice, although its a listed building so probably a challenge."
"We loved that the hotel was so central to where we needed to be. The hotel exudes charm and the furnishings really lean in to the old-time vibe. The bed was so large and comfy! Breakfast was delicious with a really thoughtful selection showcasing local produce and the chef’s expertise. Thank you for a lovely weekend."
"Perfect accommodation for my 2 children and grandchildren. Rented 2 lodges for a wedding locally at a good price for 6 adults and 5 children. Ate in club house and the 2 boys enjoyed playing golf on the par 3 and practicing on the driving range. Recommend."
"Location was a plus since you don’t have to deal with congested traffic in the city. Free parking an obvious plus. Food was decent. Staff and service very good. The only real negative was one of hygiene. It was noticeable that when customers used the toilet facilities and failed to wash their hands, they would return to the restaurant and handle the utensils stacked in the containers on the table. In future, I would take wipes and clean before using."
