"I didn’t use the bar when I walked around the public areas. It looked very tidy and stocked up and as a former Bar manager I would know if it looked odd but everything looked perfect."

Insisted on charging a £50 "deposit" at check-in that wasn't mentioned at the time of booking, then after reluctantly paying by card and SEEING THE GREEN TICK AND APPROVAL CONFIRMATION on the terminal screen, the receptionist claimed it hadn't been successful, and I'd need to pay it again (which I refused to do). In the one small lift, the button for the Ground Floor was taped over with the message "Not Workig" (sic) meaning the only way to get back to the ground...

"Great overnight stay in a Superior Suite. Tastefully Decorated. Nice ensuite bathroom with lovely large shower. Bedroom has a Comfortable bed, which was very high up if you're not that tall :) & a tv. Separate room with Leather settee & a tv. Good space for a Couple. Clean through out. Continental Breakfast was delicious & plentiful. Staff very nice & pleasant. Location Excellent with a carpark on its doorstep. Highly recommend. We would definitely return again."

"We had a lovely stay at The Castle Hotel but be warned they operate a direct booking policy for using their car park. As we had booked through Expedia we had to pay to use the council car park across the road even though there were spaces in the hotel car park ‘in case’ someone who had booked direct wanted to use the car park."
