There is a Lake Haven Apartments, but they don't take bookings through Expedia and they had no record of a booking in my name. SCAM"

"The area is quiet, and semi-rural, with easy access off the main road. The unit was clean and presentable, but dated, the unit needs some money spent on the property, and furnishings. The staff was kind and courteous, accommodating with requests. I do wish that some milk had been put in the unit, along with a hand towel, and facecloth. "

Reading other reviews, though, I think it would be wise to adjust the description on Expedia to clearly reflect that it isn’t a ‘retreat’ by any stretch of the imagination. But I really liked it. "Great hostel with very friendly staff! We stayed in a private ensuite which was newly renovated and looked great and was very clean and big enough. The only issue we had was with the water temperature regulation in our ensuite shower, but they said they would look into it. The location of the hostel couldn't be better in the center of Taupo, just a minute's walk to the lake and nice restaurants. Definitely recommend staying at BoBs!"
