"On arrival, we were shown to the "penthouse", a twin room on the third floor. The large bedroom light worked, but none of the smaller, bedside lights worked, so not great at night - totally or all nothing. Floor-space in the room was significantly compromised by a dismantled wooden bed-frame cluttering up the room. "I stayed in this hotel room and it was ridiculously hot to the point of being unbearable. The air conditioning either didn’t work or was completely ineffective, and the room felt like a sauna all night. I wasn’t able to sleep at all, which completely ruined my stay. We booked a stay at Spencer Bridge By AFL for July 25–26, expecting a smooth experience. Instead, we were left stranded with zero advance notice.
The host cancelled/refused our accommodation on the very day of check-in without giving us prior warning. Offering a refund after leaving guests stranded on the day of arrival does not fix the massive inconvenience, stress, and expense of having to scramble for last-minute accommodation.

The room looked fine in the photos but fell short in person. We were on the ground floor and arrived to a strong smell of cigarettes - the throw blanket had a burn hole in it, suggesting a previous guest had smoked despite the advertised £100 fine. There was pink staining on the shower floor and the only chair had a broken spindle on the back - when I went to move it, the top rail separated entirely from the remaining spindles and I had to pop it back...
