"I love Malmaisons. The rooms are always different to the normal ones you get in other chains, but they're very well laid out. Even a standard double has a sofa at the end of the bed, so you don't have to be in bed to watch TV. The bars are always good too."

"Great room friendly staff easy check in Service for evening food was really slow (1hr wait) apparently short staffed but could have been told this when booked however manager was brilliant and gave us free drinks and apologised without any issue. Only other thing would say there are not enough lifts for number of rooms and only allowed 6 people per Lift and the cleaners also use same lifts so on two occasions we couldnt get in for about 20mins/ Excellent location Would def recommend tho"

"Excellent location for attending the Utilita Arena, Symphony Hall or the SeaLife Centre. Q car park is adjacent to the property, or if arriving by train Birmingham New Street is a 15 minute walk. The property has comfortable rooms and the facilities are well maintained. BUT We attended the Les Mis concert at the Arena and returned to the hotel to have a drink to finish off the evening at around 10:30. However, there was only one member of staff serving and a queue of people quickly ensued. To add to this the card machine was only working intermittently. The member of staff coped wonderfully and should be commended, she was calm, efficient and dealt with what could have been a angry situation. Management should take a look at themselves and consider that if an event is in the nearby Arena, people will book the hotel (closest to the venue),they will return expecting the bar to be staffed appropriately and payment methods to be working. It's not complicated! Management should thank Eshaa for being so professional, I note that other reviewers have mentioned Eshaa previously, clearly she is an asset to the Hotel and I hope she is recompensed accordingly."

"I don’t usually write bad reviews, but…I stayed during the heat wave at the end of May, 2026. Room air conditioner was not working. Staff acted shocked to hear this and promised to have it seen to. It was never fixed, and I suspect it can’t be. I only spoke to two other guests during my stay there, and the AC wasn’t working in either of their rooms. Spoke to the manager about it when checking out, and she too, acted surprised. Said she would have given me a 50% discount for my stay, but as I had booked through Expedia, I would have to get the refund from them. A seemingly well rehearsed and often used scam. Also, the booking I made through Expedia was supposed to include dinner for two at the HI restaurant. Staff at check in “checked”, but said no meals were included. Manager at check out was also “so sorry” about that, as well, but there was nothing she could do. An overall bad experience in what could be a decent hotel."
