Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities
We arrived at the hotel just after 2:00 pm on the day of our check in. We were told that an additional $20
Plus taxes would be charged since we were checking in before the standard check in time of 3:00 pm. We explained to the lady at the front desk that we had travelled almost 8 hours and were there to attend a funeral and needed to get ready. Her reply was that she couldn’t do anything as the fee is automatically charged. Our room was ready when we arrived and there did not appear to be many other guests staying there. Not sure why our arriving less than one hour before check in would cause the hotel any real expense. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations and the hallways were full of unboxed furniture and very dusty. It was evident that our room had been remodelled however the door was very difficult to open (maybe the paint did not completely dry) There is no signage on the outside or the building that even indicates that it is a Howard Johnson. Very disappointing stay.
