Did not enjoy my stay, I want a refund
When I first arrived I thought the place was lovely. Yes, there were bugs in the pool, but I didn’t mind scooping them out. The guest house was cozy, and clean. But the bathroom ceiling was open, and the interior doors desperately need a cleaning or some paint. Determined to enjoy myself, I ignored these things. The unit doesn’t have central air, and George asked I turn off the AC when I wasn’t there or if I were going to hang by the pool for extended periods. A completely reasonable request i had no issue granting. My first morning there, I was greeted by the biggest millipede I’ve ever seen (photo available) it scared me and made me uncomfortable leaving the windows or leave the bathroom door open as I wasn’t sure where it came from. Sadly It rained most of my first few days there. One day I left and returned an hour later to poodles of water on the floor. There was such a big leak in the ceiling that there was a literal waterfall in the living room (video and photos available). On Sunday the 9th, I heard George ask my boyfriend if we were locals. He replied that I was American, but he was a local. The next day George texted me asking me to come talk to him. He told me that his electric bill was going up. He said they only rent to tourist like myself and don’t rent to locals because they know how they are with AC. He then proceeded to ask me if we could collaborate on the bill or if I could find a way to reduce my use. I was so offended and instantly uncomfortable. I get that this is a business for him, but this is my vacation. I shouldn’t have to worry about AC or anything. I’m here to enjoy myself as I see fit and if I want to stay in the room all day with the AC on, that’s my prerogative. I am very allergic to mosquitoes, so I limit my time outside. And again, it was raining really bad so I stayed in door.I felt like I couldn’t enjoy my stay in the space that I paid my hard earned money for. But I was more offended at how he was trying to profile my boyfriend. For the record he has an excellent AC system at his home, but our desire for privacy is why we chose to stay elsewhere. Bottom I spent that time relaxing in the AC because that’s what I wanted to do and that’s what weather permitted. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
