"Staff were brilliant, check-in was good as was check out. Absolutely no complaints in that regard. Room was lovely but carpet quite stained in places and the curtains were very worn and material torn in places. Bathroom was excellent though. Breakfast was great as was restaurant menu."

"The hotel is a beautiful old country style hotel with all the quirks you’d expect to find in such a historic building. Stayed for 1 night as a party of 2 couples pre-flight and would stay there again. Convenient location for our purpose. There were a few issues experienced during our stay which were mainly due to the restaurant. We’d pre booked a 7.30pm table in advance of our stay. Various food offerings on the menu were not available (we were advised - changeover of menu meant they’d underestimated ingredients). Starters arrived in good time however it was quite a wait for the mains to be served. We were not offered any deserts and when we asked for coffee we were advised that the coffee machine had been switched off (this was only 9.30pm on a Friday night). There didn’t seem to be a visible ‘manager’ overseeing the restaurant or anyone that you could pick out as being a manager/person of responsibility. Lady at reception on check-out took our keys, advised all paid and didn’t even ask us if we’d enjoyed our stay! Just one breakfast tea teabag in the room for 2 people!"

"Clean basic room, twin beds were not overly comfortable as felt leaning one way!! But cheap and easy, right by station. Could have used a glass in room to get some water to drink. Overall it was what it said on the tin so to speak!"

"Lovely, friendly staff who will go out of their way to help you. Nice, clean beds and rooms. Everything you need. Would be nice to have a hairdryer in the room instead of having to ask for one, but this is only a minor inconvenience. We didn't use the bar or have breakfast there as we were visiting relatives near by. Excellent stay."

The Beach Hotel

"Overall, a lovely room with sea view, given that it was not expensive. The room was spacious with a high ceiling and a good shower, though this wasn't thermostatically controlled. There was a good tea/coffee selection. Everything worked in the bathroom. Staff were friendly and we were lucky to get into the hotel parking. A workman had left a drill bit on the bathroom basin and the bedside lights were not plugged in. There was no wardrobe, only 4 hangers on a rail. The bed frame was creaky and the mattress needed replacement, though for a one night stay we didn't mind. There was limited control over the heating in the room, which didn't come on well even when we turned it up. The included breakfast was good though there was no choice offered over what exactly you got in your full english breakfast."
