"The building was older, but well kept. The hostess was fantastic. The location was great. The Sea Lions on the river can be a bit noisy, so if you are not into that type of atmosphere you might reconsider. We enjoyed the ambiance."

"Everything was pretty good. I would advise not being late for breakfast. Even showing up at 9:55 a.m. is not advised. Also, the TV situation was a little jinky. There was a guide button, but when you called up the guide on the screen, it just showed the channel numbers, not any show information. I wish they had a smart TV we could connect to a streaming app such as Netflix, Hulu, or Pluto..."

"Not walkable but the view and the hot tub make it my fave little hotel. Nice little refresh going on at the moment, but the construction wasn’t disruptive. Sadly the nightly rate has gone up too much for me to justify my annual stay here. Lovely hotel if you’re travelling through regardless. Would recommend, but will not likely return due to cost."

"We had a wonderful and a refreshingly unique stay at the Float House. It felt very private on the river and perfectly located for lots of activities in Astoria and along the coastline. Joy met us at the site to give s a friendly walk through and address any questions that we had. She was very responsive when we had one more question later in our stay. The kitchen was well supplied for our needs. The spice rack was very impressive. The bedroom arrangements worked perfectly for us and we were very comfortable. We enjoyed the ever changing weather and ebb and flow of the river. Though we didn't venture out in the kayaks, (horrid weather) we look forward to coming back and discovering the river in better weather. It was fun to watch the dragon boat practice too. We saw Jack, the blue heron, several times. I don't know the eagle's name, but he/she made a flyover a few times. Keep those binos close by. There is also a very interesting large book upstairs that is a primer to the estuary. This place is truly an undiscovered gem. The only note I could make is let people know that as the river changes the ramp leading to the float house can be quite steep. It wasn't a problem for us but it would be worth mentioning for those who aren't as mobile. "

"Well I’m sure it would have been excellent but I’m afraid a perfect storm unraveled things. We had been up since 3:00 a.m. and driving for six hours. The host graciously said we could check in early. I fear I may have led us to the wrong door and of course the entry code wouldn’t work and my tired, frustrated, Scottish husband became annoyed with the host on the phone and apparently the interaction escalated and the host decided he needed to cancel our stay. It was likely an understandable decision, but sad for us, because we usually have lovely interactions with hosts and neighbors. But, otherwise our stay in Astoria was amazing. There is a local dog themed brew pub a block down from the tiny house, well worth a visit called Hondo’s. A block down from Fort George is an amazing little pub, Bridge and Tunnel, that makes you wish you lived in the neighborhood. The birthday dessert I had at Bridgeview Bistro (Lemon Posset) was to die for. And, we wandered into quite a few unique and interesting shops and came home with a few treasures. I recommend it, and imagine this little VRBO would have made the visit even more magic."
